Years ago, when he was still burdened with "food, clothes and money", he had to go away to perform on New Year's Eve. During the moments when he should have been with his family, the actor was walking on the streets, making himself feel sad.
"Western provinces often shoot off fireworks to celebrate New Year's Eve earlier, so around 22 p.m., after the performance, I moved back to Ho Chi Minh City. Looking at the deserted street outside, it was over 12:30 and still not home, I wanted to cry.
That's why, in recent years, I have only performed on stage to serve the audience, and no longer perform on New Year's Eve to spend time with my family," Minh Du said.
Minh Du also shared that when he was young, he did not live with his parents but was raised by his grandmother, so he cherished the moments when his family gathered together. Therefore, the films made by Minh Du often talk about family, bringing real experiences from his own life.
This year's Tet, Minh Du released it Ti's house 3 – short film about the feelings of loved ones in the family. The actor hopes his work helps many people understand that Tet is about gathering with loved ones.
Talking about his work, Minh Du said he was quite hesitant about doing it, because the cost of filming was up to hundreds of millions of dong.
“One night I stayed up until 4 a.m., texting my manager because I wanted to… stop filming even though it was only a week before the filming date. But I think I have to do it, I can't ignore meaningful things. That motivated me,” he said.
Talking about his family, actor Minh Du said his father worked as a TV repairman, and his mother worked as a housekeeper. He affirmed that he had never felt bad about his parents' careers, because it was these jobs that nurtured him and helped him go to school.
“I see my parents as superheroes. Dad once designed battery-powered fans for me, which wowed my friends and made me very proud. My mother also often collects good books for me to read. Those things are the motivation for me to take care of my parents more," said actor Minh Du.
Minh Du also said that one of his greatest achievements at present is being able to take care of his parents and make them proud of him.
On this occasion, Minh Du also revealed that he is in the process of completing his master's thesis in Vietnamese Literature at Van Hien University (HCMC). The actor said he chose to study graduate school to gain more knowledge and experience, as well as more vocabulary to apply to acting.
