At a workshop held in Ho Chi Minh City on the morning of December 16th, experts, managers, researchers, and artists shared experiences and discussed the current state, potential, and challenges of public-private partnerships in the cultural sector. They proposed feasible solutions to effectively utilize state resources and mobilize positive contributions from the private sector in the cultural field.
Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Thi Thu Phuong (Director of the Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Arts) delivered the opening remarks at the workshop.
According to the delegates, in the context of current integration and development, culture is considered one of the main pillars, serving as both the spiritual foundation of society and a goal and driving force for sustainable national development. To promote the role of culture in conjunction with economics, politics , and society towards sustainable development, opening up and applying the public-private partnership model has become an inevitable trend, especially given the limited resources of the State and the need for active participation from the private sector.
Dr. Tom Fleming (Director of the Creative Economy and Culture Consulting and Research Company) presented his paper.
However, in reality, the implementation of cooperation activities in the cultural field in our country has faced many obstacles in terms of legal frameworks, financial mechanisms, and a lack of coordinated efforts among relevant ministries and agencies. Therefore, promoting public-private partnerships is expected to create new cultural values and develop the cultural industry.
