" Hanoi Stars" was organized by Hanoi Radio and Television Station on the evening of September 28th at the Hanoi Opera House.
The program brings together famous artists who rose to fame from the Hanoi Television Singing Contest, such as Meritorious Artist Mai Hoa, first prize winner in 1996; singer Anh Tho, first prize winner in 1998; singer Pham Van Giap, first prize winner in 2000; singer Ho Quynh Huong, first prize winner in 2002; singer Hoang Quyen, first prize winner in 2010; singer To Minh Thang, second prize winner in 1998; singer Phuong Anh, second prize winner in 2002; singer Vu Thang Loi, second prize winner in 2008; singer Ploong Thiet, third prize winner in 2002; and singer Khanh Linh, consolation prize winner in 2002.
Singer Anh Thơ won first prize in the Hanoi Television Singing Contest in 1998.
Many timeless songs have been revamped by contestants of the "Hanoi Television Singing Contest," and later became synonymous with their names. These works were once again featured in "Hanoi Stars," such as "Xa Khơi" (Far from Shore) – a famous piece by composer Nguyen Tai Tue sung by Anh Tho, "Ho Guom in the Autumn Afternoon" – a song composed by An Thuyen based on a poem by Nguyen Si Dai written specifically for Ho Quynh Huong, and "Đi Tìm Bóng Núi" (Searching for the Shadow of the Mountain) – also a work by composer An Thuyen set to a poem by Duong Thuan – which became closely associated with singer Ploong Thiet…
Many other songs also left a lasting impression on the audience, such as "Finding Your Name on the Sand" - composed by Duy Thai with Meritorious Artist Mai Hoa, "The Voice of Hanoi" - music by Van An, lyrics by Canh Tra, sung by Vu Thang Loi….
Ho Quynh Huong also rose to fame after the Hanoi Television Singing Contest.
In addition, there are many other famous works that have stood the test of time, imbued with love and pride for the capital and the country, such as "Heading Towards Hanoi" (Hoang Duong), "Dreaming of a Faraway Place" (music by Phu Quang, lyrics by Thai Thang Long), "Improvisation on the Red River" (Tran Tien), "Remembering Hanoi's Autumn" (Trinh Cong Son), "Country of Love" (Le Giang), "Aspiration" (Pham Minh Tuan)... and some new compositions with a contemporary feel such as "Only You Left" (Huy Tuan), "My Life" (Thuy Nguyen), "Sad Radio" (Tuan Khanh)...
Notably, there are two songs composed and performed by the singers themselves: "The Room Where the Rain Falls" by Ho Quynh Huong and "She" by Hoang Quyen.
Artist Quyen Thien Dac
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Jazz Department, the Vietnam National Academy of Music is organizing the 5th "Jazz & Friends Concert" on the evening of October 7th in Hanoi.
Associate Professor Dr. Le Anh Tuan, Director of the Vietnam National Academy of Music, shared that the 5th "Jazz & Friends" program is a tribute to the first generation of teachers and lecturers in the training and research of Vietnamese jazz music. The program also introduces to the public the younger generation of Vietnamese jazz artists and the integration of Vietnamese jazz music with the world .
International and Vietnamese jazz works such as "Nostalgia", "Moonlight in Vermont", "Breezin", "Inh lả ơi" (Vietnamese folk song, arranged by Trần Lưu Hoàng), Feels Like Home (Nguyễn Tuấn Nam)... were performed by artists Quyền Thiện Đắc, Lương Xuân Thịnh, Hoàng Xuân Tùng, Nguyễn Tiến Mạnh, Hoàng Hải Bằng, Nguyễn Minh Đức, Hoàng Phú Tùng, Lê Duy Mạnh, Lương Việt Tú (Jazz Glory band)…

The program also features Professor Hakan Rydin (Sweden), Dr. Steve Barry, Damon Poppleton, Bernice Tesara, Cailey Soon, and George Greenhill (Australia). The two special guests are artists Nguyen Tuan Nam and Dao Kien.
Established in 2013, the Jazz Department is the youngest department at the Vietnam National Academy of Music. Currently, the department has 23 lecturers, including renowned jazz musicians and lecturers such as Luu Quang Minh, Hoang Tung, Quyen Van Minh, Quyen Thien Dac, Nguyen Tien Manh, and Luong Xuan Thinh.
