Campers participate in physical games at the 2026 Skills Summer Camp.
In a joyful and exciting atmosphere, the children were equipped with many practical skills in communication, teamwork, wound dressing, orientation, camping, deciphering coded messages, creativity, and survival water purification… Interspersed with these were group activities: folk dance competition, recycled fashion show, team games, and cultural exchange.
After her memorable experiences, Lo Viet My (13 years old, Thai ethnic minority) from Pa Tan 2 village, Pa Tan commune, excitedly said: "Participating in the Skills Summer Camp, I made many new friends, gained useful skills, participated in interesting group activities, and became more confident in communication and also learned how to take care of myself. I hope there will be more programs like this during this summer vacation."
Ms. Tran Thi Thu Huong, Director of the Provincial Community Activities Center, said: "2026 marks the third year that the Provincial Community Activities Center has organized a skills summer camp for children in the province. At the end of the camp, from the shy glances they showed on the first day, the children have become more open and confident. Geographical, ethnic, and background barriers have gradually disappeared, replaced by strong bonds, sharing, and beautiful friendships."
According to Ms. Huong, from July 4th to 11th, the Provincial Community Activities Center will continue to organize a skills summer camp with the theme "A Week of Independence" for children aged 8-15, creating opportunities for students to have a fun and beneficial summer, to socialize, expand their friendships, practice social skills, and enhance their independence in life.
Besides the regularly organized skills summer camps, this summer, the province has seen an increasing number of life skills, arts, and sports clubs attracting a large number of children. Among them, the football club attracts 80-90 children aged 6-15 who regularly participate in training. Training sessions are held every Monday to Saturday morning. At the Tinh Ca football field in residential area No. 10 (Tan Phong ward), the atmosphere of the FC Cuoi amateur football club's training sessions is always vibrant. On the field, the trainees enthusiastically warm up, perform physical exercises, practice passing and dribbling techniques, and develop teamwork under the guidance of their coaches.
Coach Nguyen Tuyen Huan, head of the FC Cuoi amateur football club, shared: "The club's goal is not only to train football skills but, more importantly, to create a healthy playground for the children during the summer. Through training sessions, the children get regular exercise, limit their time using phones and electronic devices, and simultaneously cultivate self-discipline, teamwork, and self-confidence in life."
Currently, the province has 99,412 children and teenagers. According to Ms. Be Thi Bang, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union, to create beneficial playgrounds during the summer, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Youth Union has directed all levels of the Youth Union and Children's Union in the province to strengthen the organization of cultural and artistic activities, sports, skills training, and healthy recreational activities for children. Emphasis is placed on equipping children with self-protection skills, accident and injury prevention, drowning prevention, and safe online usage, while also paying attention to children in difficult circumstances, children in remote areas, and children from ethnic minority communities.

The children enthusiastically practice their ball-passing techniques at FC Cuội Football Club.
At the grassroots level, Youth Union organizations also plan and implement many practical activities for children. Ms. Chu Le Thien Ly, Secretary of the Than Uyen Commune Youth Union, said: The entire commune currently has 4,695 children and teenagers. This summer, in addition to organizing summer activities at least once a week in each village and residential area, the Commune Youth Union strives to organize at least: 2 training courses on life skills, drowning prevention, and injury prevention; 1 swimming class; 2 sessions on legal awareness, traffic safety, prevention of school violence, child abuse, drug prevention, and social evils;…
To ensure that every summer is a truly enriching, safe, and memorable time for children, more collaboration is needed from families, schools, and society as a whole in creating more playgrounds that are suitable for their age, needs, and interests.
