Turning trash into love
In response to the Month of Action for the Environment and World Environment Day (June 5th), the Women's Union at all levels in the province is implementing many practical activities, contributing to spreading a green lifestyle and raising awareness of environmental protection in the community.
In Lam Vien ward, Da Lat, last weekend, the Women's Union launched the "Turning Waste into Love" model to implement the "Green Living for Women" movement. The model aims not only to reduce plastic waste and raise awareness of waste sorting at source but also to create a fund to support disadvantaged women and children in the area. According to the plan, women's branches will organize regular recycling collection on two Sundays in the middle and at the end of each month. Residents are encouraged to sort their waste at home and then bring it to designated collection points in Hung Vuong, Da Thien, and Thai Phien residential areas.
Ms. Dam Thi Van Anh, President of the Women's Union of Lam Vien Ward, Da Lat, said: "We have established a transparent and open process for collecting and managing the fund to ensure the model's long-term sustainability. All proceeds from the sale of recyclable waste will be used to support single mothers, orphaned children, and members in difficult circumstances; providing them with health insurance cards or livelihood support to help them improve their lives."
Actively responding to the initiative from the very first day, Ms. Cao Thi Gai, residing in Thai Phien residential area, shared: “I find this model very meaningful. My family runs a small restaurant, so we have many plastic bottles and cans every day. Previously, I used to collect them to sell as scrap, but now I bring them to the women's association to raise funds. Through small daily actions, we can contribute to helping those in need, so I and many other women vendors around here are very enthusiastic about participating.”

Promoting a green lifestyle.
Not only in Lam Vien ward - Da Lat, but also in many localities throughout the province such as Phuc Tho, Lam Ha, Cat Tien 3, D'ran, Bac Binh, Ward 3 Bao Loc, Ham Thang ward, La Gi..., women's unions simultaneously organized many environmental protection activities such as: collecting scrap materials to raise funds, cleaning village roads and alleys, and picking up trash along the coast. At the same time, they organized tree planting and encouraged members to sign pledges to reduce plastic waste.
In addition, women in localities throughout the province have effectively maintained many models such as: "Shopping with baskets," "Exchange trash for gifts," and waste sorting at source. In particular, flower-lined roads and bright, green, clean, and beautiful roads continue to be built and expanded. The "Green Sunday" activities are also regularly organized by women's associations in residential areas, attracting a large number of members and residents to participate in cleaning, collecting waste, clearing drains, and improving the landscape of residential areas.
According to Ms. H'Vi ÊBan, President of the Provincial Women's Union, through practical models and activities, the Women's Union at all levels has promoted the dissemination of information and guidance to members and the people on sorting waste at source, limiting the use of single-use plastic products, and gradually forming a civilized and environmentally friendly lifestyle. "These activities not only contribute to environmental protection but also enhance the responsibility of each citizen towards the community. Through this, we continue to promote the role of women in building a greener, cleaner, more beautiful, and sustainably developed locality," Ms. H'Vi ÊBan emphasized.
During the period 2021-2025, women's associations at all levels in the province extensively implemented the campaigns "Building families with 5 no's and 3 clean's" and "Building families with 5 yes's and 3 clean's," carrying out more than 1,700 projects and tasks participating in building new rural areas. Thousands of flower-lined roads and litter-free roads have been created and effectively maintained, creating a green, clean, and beautiful appearance for many residential areas.
