A 35-ton shipment, transported by an Indian Army special aircraft, arrived at Noi Bai International Airport on the night of September 15, 2024. The relief supplies included essential items such as water purifiers, blankets, mosquito nets, kitchenware, water tanks, buckets with taps, and solar-powered lights, based on the needs of affected communities and recommendations from relevant authorities.

A few days ago, on behalf of the Government and people of India, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi sent condolences and expressed solidarity to Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh. Indian Foreign Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar, also sent condolences to Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son regarding the losses and damage caused by the storm.

The Indian government affirms that its humanitarian assistance to Vietnam is a testament to the long-standing and strong relationship between the two countries, marked by a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Operation Sadbhav (Goodwill) is part of India's efforts to contribute to humanitarian assistance and disaster relief in the ASEAN region, in line with India's long-standing "Act East Policy".

The Indian Ambassador to Vietnam handed over relief supplies to the Department of Dyke Management and Disaster Prevention and Control of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and representatives of Tuyen Quang province. On this occasion, the Ambassador also conveyed the warm sentiments of the Indian people towards those affected by Typhoon Yagi. He also stated that Indian businesses and the Indian community in Vietnam have joined hands to support the Vietnamese people in various ways.
