On August 16th, users of the VieON OTT application could no longer access the K+ channel group. The platform stated that due to a change in partnership policy, these programs would become unavailable from midnight on the same day. The announcement came as a surprise to users.
It is currently unclear whether the platform will provide any compensation to customers who are purchasing K+ (189,000 VND/month) and All Access (290,000 VND/month) packages.
A similar announcement was also made on ClipTV. Previously, the SCTV cable television system also stopped broadcasting 3 K+ channels. Conversely, K+ also stopped broadcasting SCTV channels. At the same time, from July, users ofFPT Play, VTVCab ON, or MyTV platforms can only purchase K+ packages on a monthly renewal basis, with no longer options. Previously, customers could purchase packages for 3-6 months or a year to save costs.

Announcement regarding the discontinuation of K+ channel on VieON. |
In Vietnam, K+ holds the broadcasting rights for the English Premier League and other sports such as tennis, Formula 1, UFC, and golf. This entity is the result of a joint venture between the French television company Canal+ and VTVCab. Subsequently, VTVCab's stake was transferred to VTV for management.
According to DecodeTV , Canal+ CEO Maxime Saada is considering withdrawing from the Vietnamese market because losses "have become significant" and "no viable solution is in sight." "We may decide to make a major restructuring of our operations here, or even consider withdrawing completely," Saada shared.
The statement from Canal+, along with the suspension of broadcasts on several platforms, fueled rumors that K+ might change its operational plans in Vietnam. At the same time, a number of long-time commentators from the network announced their departure.
However, on August 4th, K+ denied rumors of ceasing operations. They stated that they will continue to broadcast the English Premier League exclusively in Vietnam.
"In the context of the fiercely competitive and constantly changing pay-TV market in Vietnam, we always strive to be sensitive in assessing the situation and making flexible adjustments to our services to adapt and serve our viewers. The new Premier League season 2025/2026 will return with sports and entertainment content broadcast on 5 K+ channels and the entire system of channels included in the subscription package," the broadcaster stated.
