A day in neighborhood group 7

Việt NamViệt Nam04/11/2023

Neighborhood Group 7, Kinh Nam village, Thach Hung commune ( Ha Tinh city) completed paving all roads with asphalt in just one day. Many joyful stories revolved around this "great unity."

At 6 a.m., the neighborhood's Zalo group chat buzzed with activity. People were calling out to each other, preparing to cover their houses in case the workers arrived to blow away the dust. At 8 a.m., the first trucks laying asphalt arrived.

As the sun rose, workers arrived to blow away the dust from the road surface in the neighborhood.

The "team" monitoring the construction constantly updates the progress and quality reports in the group. Some provide technical documents for other departments to supervise, others suggest areas that need more paving, and still others take the opportunity to... write poetry.

Then, in a moment of excitement, a poetry contest about "hot plastic," about national unity, about neighborhood sports ... was spontaneously launched on the Zalo group. As a result, 5 or 6 six-line poems were quickly completed, receiving many "likes" and smiley faces.

The work atmosphere is cheerful and bustling.

The weather was favorable. The sun shone brightly, making the workers' clothes even darker with sweat. By 12 noon, the most difficult sections of the road had been paved. After work, the villagers eagerly returned to see the new road. A lively discussion ensued on Zalo, involving people of all ages, men and women alike. It was truly a very open and enthusiastic neighborhood group.

After lunch, the workers didn't blink, rushing to "steal" the sunshine to complete the assigned routes. Then the sun finally set, marking the end of a long day. The neighborhood group was overjoyed because in just one day, all four asphalt routes, covering over 2000 square meters, were completed. People marveled, and joyful laughter echoed throughout the alley. It felt like a day of great unity had begun today!

The day was over. Lights came on in every house, and the whole group joined together for a shared meal around the stone tables and chairs, "helping the children carry the burden for their mothers one last time." Around 9 PM, everyone went home in joyful celebration: Tomorrow is the weekend, and we'll be cleaning up the drainage ditch.

One day when everything is done. It's no joke! There has to be a concrete plan, and people shouldn't compare themselves to others, even if they contribute more, and shouldn't be envious. Forgiving and overlooking... that's perfectly fine!

So many things that had gone well before finally culminated in one perfect day - the day of completing the large-scale asphalt paving project.

This shows that when the people are united in their resolve, anything can be accomplished. When the people are the true subjects, everything is quickly and smoothly resolved.

The cheerful work atmosphere maintained its rhythm throughout the day.

Thinking about it, I suddenly noticed something. Right in the heart of the neighborhood, two major roads, invested in by the government, have been... at a standstill for so long. Or rather, to be more precise, they've been further stalled and divided into even more sections.

Eventually, to get from the neighborhood to the main road, people had to dismount from their motorbikes and walk across the ditches when it was dry, and wade through the water when it rained. In some places, the ditches were about 60 cm higher than the road. Few could count the number of motorbike accidents and scrapes suffered by the elderly!

A driver deliberately drove across a ditch to enter neighborhood group 7. He was forced to call for rescue after being stuck for several hours.

For about a year, the two main roads were repeatedly delayed, rain or shine. Mrs. Men, who sold rice noodle rolls at the entrance of the alley, was saddened. She rolled the noodles quickly with her nimble left hand while chewing betel nut, too preoccupied to speak.

“Last year’s Tet was already miserable, covered in red mud. This Tet doesn’t look much better either,” she muttered, her betel quid almost falling. Then she sighed again: “I’ll just keep making the rice cakes. Oh well!”

The road roller reached its final point, where it intersects with a major road junction.

The indifference of the locals is like an inexplicable low note. Yet, the people here only whisper to each other about the road, then the electricity... but nothing seems to become clear or progress as the days and months go by!
