Legendary player Alvaro Magalhaes bluntly called Jose Mourinho's season with Benfica nothing short of a "disaster".

Mourinho has yet to bring success to Benfica.

The former defender, who won 10 titles with Benfica, believes Mourinho's tactics were ineffective in the 2-2 draw against Porto on March 9th. Speaking on Antena 1 , he stated that Benfica left too many gaps in midfield, allowing Porto to exploit them.

"Benfica needed a win to close the gap, but they gave away too much space. Porto have quality players and exploited that very well. They were superior in midfield and could have even scored more than two goals," said Magalhaes.

The Benfica legend also questioned Mourinho's substitution decisions. According to him, tactical adjustments often came too late, and the team should have made those changes at the start of the second half to regain control of the game.

"This season is not something to forget, but something that needs serious analysis," Magalhaes emphasized. "With the investment made, Benfica should have been competing for the championship, going deep in the Champions League, and winning domestic titles. But the reality is completely the opposite. This has been a complete disaster."
