Mourinho awaits his chance to return to Man Utd.

According to the Daily Mail, manager Jose Mourinho wants to return to Manchester United to "finish the job." The Portuguese coach previously managed Man Utd from May 2016 to December 2018, winning three titles before being sacked.

The Daily Mail, citing a source close to Mourinho, reported that the 61-year-old coach believes that the management team of billionaire Jim Ratcliffe – who recently acquired a 25% stake and took over the running of Man Utd – will make a difference compared to the previous era at Old Trafford.

"His ambition is to return to Man Utd. He feels he still has unfinished business at Man Utd and has set himself the task of returning," a friend of Mourinho revealed to the Daily Mail.

Coach Mourinho has just been sacked by AS Roma.

Mourinho managed Manchester United for a total of 144 matches with a win rate of 58.33%, the highest among Red Devils managers since Alex Ferguson up to December 2018. He led the Old Trafford team to win the League Cup and Europa League in the 2016/17 season, and to runner-up positions in the Premier League and FA Cup in the 2017/18 season.

However, in his third season at Man Utd, Mourinho ran into trouble due to conflicts with some players and the club's management. He was sacked after the defeat to Liverpool at the end of 2018.

After leaving Old Trafford, "The Special One" worked at two other clubs: Tottenham and AS Roma. The common thread between these two teams is that they didn't keep Mourinho for the full three years and both decided to sack him early due to declining performance.

Mourinho has yet to sign a new contract with any club since his recent dismissal by AS Roma. Meanwhile, at Manchester United, manager Erik ten Hag faces considerable pressure due to the team's poor performance. The Red Devils are currently ranked 9th in the Premier League table and have only won one of their last six matches.
