MU needs more 'Mbeumo's'

A great team isn't measured solely by wins, but by how they utilize their players. Ruben Amorim's Manchester United understands this, through two contrasting names: Bryan Mbeumo and Manuel Ugarte.

The 2-2 draw against Tottenham in the 11th round of the Premier League on the evening of November 8th was like a mirror reflecting the true face of MU. They took the lead, controlled the game, and then in just a few minutes, everything collapsed.

Amorim stood motionless by the sidelines, clutching a water bottle, watching his players lose their rhythm. And between those two extremes, two distinct images emerged: Mbeumo shining, Ugarte making mistakes.

Bryan Mbeumo, a low-profile signing, continues to prove his worth. Playing on the left wing, he moves intelligently and knows when to burst into the penalty area. The opening goal was a reward for his effort and sense of responsibility. Each time Mbeumo scores, Amorim's face lights up with relief. The 26-year-old is gradually becoming the emotional heart of Manchester United.

Mbeumo scored in the 2-2 draw between MU and Spurs.

Conversely, Manuel Ugarte represents the dark side of the transfer window. £42 million, high expectations, but so far only disappointment remains. In the equalizer conceded, he was easily beaten by Pape Sarr. No challenge, no judgment, no composure. A small incident, but it exposed a major problem: MU is spending more money than it deserves.

Amorim wants to refresh the squad, to rejuvenate it and create a new identity. But not everyone who is young or expensive is suitable. Mbeumo is the opposite example: inexpensive, humble, but always ready to run and fight. He doesn't need the spotlight, he just needs to be trusted. And that's what makes the difference between a good player and a valuable player.

Manchester United fans are starting to sing a song for Mbeumo. He's not a superstar, but he's always there when the team needs him. Mbeumo's goal at Anfield, his header against Spurs, or the way he pulls teammates into the penalty area—all demonstrate the qualities of a successful signing: dedication, discipline, and effectiveness.

Ugarte has yet to prove his worth.

Meanwhile, Ugarte, the expensive signing, cost Amorim points. In the Premier League, you don't have time to adapt slowly. One wrong move, one indecisive step, can bring down the whole system. Manchester United don't need more "Ugarte"s like that.

The final sentence in the Manchester Evening News ' commentary resonates like a reminder: "The club needs more signings like Mbeumo. They don't need more signings like Ugarte." This is not just an observation, but a conclusion.

MU is in the process of rebirth, but to truly return to form, they must choose the right players. The most expensive signing isn't always the best. Mbeumo is proving that every week. He embodies the spirit that Manchester United once had, and once lost.

As for Amorim, if he wants to make his mark, he has to learn how to buy the right kind of player: low-profile, high-value. MU doesn't need another Ugarte. They need more Mbeumo to return to their true identity: simple, resilient, and knowing how to win with character before winning with goals.
