The Athletic reports that if the Danish striker leaves Old Trafford, Manchester United's leadership will consider bringing in a new striker to replace him.

Ollie Watkins is on the top target list, with the Red Devils' director having contacted them through intermediaries about a potential transfer.

The English striker still has a contract with Aston Villa until 2028. Last season, Watkins scored 16 goals and provided 8 assists in the Premier League.

Arsenal inquired about Watkins earlier this year but were unwilling to pay Aston Villa's asking price of £60 million.

That price could be similar now and would be a barrier for MU, especially since the striker no longer has resale value in the future, as he is about to turn 30.
