MU is steadfast with coach Amorim. |
The "Red Devils" have had a difficult season in the Premier League, but Amorim's future is still secure. According to the Telegraph , MU's board of directors believes the Portuguese coach deserves the opportunity in this summer transfer window to reform the squad and recruit players suitable for the tactics.
United are currently 16th in the Premier League, with 17 defeats, their worst run since the 1973/74 season. Amorim replaced Erik ten Hag in November, but failed to make a significant difference in the domestic league. United were also eliminated from the FA Cup and League Cup.
However, the Europa League offers a glimmer of hope in what has been a disappointing season. If United beat Tottenham in Bilbao, they will secure a place in next season's Champions League.
However, after the 0-2 defeat to West Ham on May 11, Amorim appeared frustrated. He admitted: "This is my problem. If the new season continues like this, everything will be very different. If the feeling of failure is still there, my position should be given to someone else."
In the plan to rebuild MU, Amorim is targeting Matheus Cunha of Wolves and Liam Delap of Ipswich. However, to recruit both, the "Red Devils" must sell players to have enough budget. Cunha has a release clause of 62.5 million pounds, while Delap is 30 million pounds.
Marcus Rashford is one of the players likely to leave. Other names such as Jadon Sancho, Antony, Casemiro and Rasmus Hojlund could also help MU increase the transfer budget.
