MU does not want to sell Mainoo.

According to The Guardian , Manchester United's leadership still has faith in Mainoo and believes the midfielder has great potential for development. The club's leaders are confident they can convince manager Ruben Amorim to give Mainoo more opportunities to play in the starting lineup.

Since the start of this season, Mainoo has not once been included in a starting lineup in the Premier League by manager Amorim. However, the Portuguese strategist has not closed all doors for the midfielder born in 2005. Amorim is willing to consider loaning Mainoo out in January 2026 to gain more playing experience.

Coach Amorim also hinted at the possibility of using Mainoo in a defensive midfield role in the future. Previously, the 20-year-old mainly competed for the "number 8" position with captain Bruno Fernandes. Expanding Mainoo's playing role shows that Amorim still highly values the young midfielder's tactical thinking and adaptability.

In the early hours of December 16th, MU drew 4-4 with Bournemouth in the 16th round of the Premier League. In this match, Mainoo came on in the 61st minute replacing Casemiro but did not make much of an impact.

Despite dropping points against Bournemouth, MU is still experiencing its most stable period under Amorim, with only one defeat in their last 10 Premier League matches. This positive run of form somewhat reinforces confidence in the personnel choices and tactical approach of the 40-year-old manager.

Four goals for MU against Wolves: In the early hours of December 9th, Bruno Fernandes scored a brace to help MU win convincingly against Wolves 4-1 in the 15th round of the 2025/26 Premier League.
