MU are reportedly approaching Goretzka early on. |
Manchester United are planning to upgrade their midfield in the summer of 2026, amidst a series of personnel changes at Old Trafford. After confirming Casemiro's departure, the "Red Devils" are forced to look for worthy replacements.
One notable target is Elliot Anderson of Nottingham Forest. However, the Manchester club isn't stopping there, as they are still considering adding another midfielder, should Manuel Ugarte also leave.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport , Manchester United's management is turning its attention to Leon Goretzka. The midfielder is preparing to leave Bayern Munich. The German international's contract expires on June 30th, and he has confirmed he will be seeking a new challenge. According to several sources, MU has already made moves to approach him and recruit him.
Goretzka is considered a complete midfielder, whose strengths lie in his ball control and distribution. In this Bundesliga season, he has achieved a pass accuracy rate of up to 93%, and rarely loses possession. This demonstrates Goretzka's consistency and class.
Notably, Goretzka is reportedly demanding a signing bonus of around £8.7 million along with a salary of £115,000 per week plus bonuses. This figure is still lower than Ugarte's current income, making it easier for MU to balance their wage bill.
Despite turning 31, Goretzka maintains consistent form and is expected to play at the highest level for a few more seasons. If the deal is completed, it would be a quality signing and a suitable replacement for Ugarte in a rotational role in midfield.
