Patrick Dorgu's explosive form has been abruptly interrupted, with the Danish player expected to be sidelined for around 10 weeks due to a hamstring injury.

Dorgu is likely to miss much of the crucial period of the season after suffering a hamstring injury in Manchester United's 3-2 victory over Arsenal in the 23rd round of the Premier League on January 25th. The 21-year-old had a problem while sprinting to chase a long ball in the second half.

Manchester United are still assessing the extent of the injury, but sources suggest Dorgu could be out for around 10 weeks. If this happens, he will miss at least the next eight games and may only return after the international break in March, leading up to the match against Leeds United on April 11th.

This is a major blow to interim manager Michael Carrick's plans. Dorgu, who was primarily used as a wing-back by Ruben Amorim, has been pushed further forward to play as a left winger in a 4-2-3-1 formation under Carrick.

This change immediately paid off. Dorgu started and scored in two consecutive wins against Manchester City and Arsenal, becoming one of United's most outstanding players in the early stages of Carrick's reign.

After the match at Emirates, Carrick had expressed hope that Dorgu's injury was not serious, suggesting that the player "might just have cramps." However, subsequent developments revealed the problem was more complicated than initially anticipated.

Dorgu now joins the injury list alongside centre-back Matthijs de Ligt, who has missed 11 consecutive games with a back injury since early December. The absence of these two key players poses a major challenge for Carrick, especially as United have limited rotation options.

This season, Dorgu has made 22 Premier League appearances, scoring 3 goals and providing 3 assists. Since joining United from Lecce for £25 million last February, he has made a total of 44 appearances for the Red Devils. Notably, all three of Dorgu's goals came in big matches, reflecting his clear progress when given an attacking role.
