Lai Vung district is known as the "kingdom" of pink tangerines. Thanks to the particularly suitable soil conditions of the region, pink tangerines have quickly become a unique local fruit with the brand "Lai Vung pink tangerines".

The Lai Vung mandarin orange season usually falls between the latter half of December and the beginning of January. The time from when the trees first bear fruit until it ripens and can be harvested is about a month and a half. The mandarins are mainly grown in three communes along the Hau River: Long Hau, Tan Phuoc, and Tan Thanh in Lai Vung district (Dong Thap province).

This is also the time when tangerine orchards open their doors to visitors and begin selling their produce.

After harvesting, the tangerines are placed in baskets by the farmers and taken to the collection point.

At the collection point, workers will carry out the sorting process of the mandarins.

Pink tangerines are sorted into containers according to traders' requirements and transported for consumption in various regions across the country.

Currently, thousands of hectares of pink tangerines are in full harvest season to supply the market for the 2024 Lunar New Year. The greatest joy for tangerine growers this year is the bumper crop and good prices... What makes Lai Vung pink tangerines so special, besides their delicious taste and beautiful appearance, is that in recent years, orchards in Lai Vung have been growing tangerines according to VietGAP standards, limiting the use of pesticides and fertilizing according to procedures, resulting in fewer diseases and ensuring safety for consumers. In addition, the fact that the Intellectual Property Office (Ministry of Science and Technology) has granted a certificate of exclusive trademark makes Lai Vung pink tangerines even more popular as a specialty fruit.

In 2024, the "Happy Vietnam" Photo and Video Contest, organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications in collaboration with the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists, will continue to be held on the website https://happy.vietnam.vn for all Vietnamese citizens and foreigners aged 15 and above.
