According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United still maintain a strong interest in the Atletico Madrid player, as manager Ruben Amorim plans to strengthen the midfield.
Sources indicate that Manchester United are in regular contact with Gallagher's agent to understand the situation and explore suitable opportunities in the transfer market. However, MU's ambitions are met with a firm stance from Atletico Madrid.
The Spanish capital club has sent a clear message that they will only agree to negotiate if they receive a buy-out offer of around 30 million euros. Atletico firmly rejects any loan options, including loan deals with a buy-out clause.
Romano asserted that the message the La Liga team sent to MU was very clear: MU had to buy him outright, or there would be no agreement at all. This forced the "Red Devils" management to think carefully. If they really wanted to bring Gallagher back to the Premier League, MU had to accept paying 30 million euros immediately.
This isn't a new stance from "Los Rojiblancos". Towards the end of the 2025 summer transfer window, MU attempted a last-minute deal but failed because they couldn't meet Atletico's demands. Even now, Atletico's attitude remains unchanged.
