The 2025 Ryder Cup is heating up ahead of its competition in Bethpage, New York, from September 26 to 28.

On Wednesday, U.S. captain Keegan Bradley announced six wildcard selections to complete the squad, aiming to reclaim the prestigious trophy on home soil after their defeat in the previous edition in Rome.

Previously, six golfers had already qualified: world number one Scottie Scheffler, JJ Spaun, Xander Schauffele, Russell Henley, Harris English, and Bryson DeChambeau.

The six invited guests were Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa, Ben Griffin, Cameron Young, Patrick Cantlay, and Sam Burns.

The big names who had to sit out included Jordan Spieth and Brooks Koepka. Even Bradley himself ruled out the possibility of choosing himself to be the "player-captain".

"I decided a long time ago that I wouldn't do that," the American golfer said after an outstanding season, culminating in the Travelers Championship – one of the PGA Tour's most important events.

Now, the ball is passed to the European golf team. Captain Luke Donald now has six players who have qualified directly: Rory McIlroy, Robert MacIntyre, Justin Rose, Tommy Fleetwood, Tyrrell Hatton, and Rasmus Hojgaard.

On September 1st, he will announce six more golfers to complete his Bethpage team.

Experts predict five players are almost certain to qualify thanks to their form this season and experience at the Ryder Cup: Shane Lowry, Jon Rahm, Sepp Straka, Ludvig Aberg, and Viktor Hovland.

The final spot will most likely be a competition between Nicolai Hojgaard, Matt Fitzpatrick, and Marco Penge.

Sergio Garcia – the top scorer in Ryder Cup history – is virtually out of contention, having shown a clear dip in form since The Masters.
