In 2026, Quang Ninh province aims to plant over 12,000 hectares of new production forests, with the highest possible results in planting protection forests, special-use forests, watershed forests, mangrove forests, and border belt forests.

To achieve the above goal, forestry units are currently urgently preparing the area, seedlings, and materials to be ready for the first reforestation season of the year. According to a survey by the Provincial Forest Protection Department, the good news is that units and localities have a sufficient number of seedlings for reforestation, basically meeting the set targets. Nurseries generally adhere to standard procedures and techniques. Many units have chosen new varieties, including imported varieties, for crossbreeding and grafting; this helps to ensure healthy seedlings that grow and develop well in the forest environment.
Tien Yen Forestry One-Member Limited Company is currently operating two nurseries and one parent tree nursery. The quality of the seedlings is traceable; some are cuttings, while the rest are seeds imported from abroad. The company has prepared millions of seedlings, meeting the goal of planting over 600 hectares of acacia and pine forests in 2026.
In the Yen Lap protective forest area, units are urgently harvesting old or fallen acacia forests damaged by natural disasters to prepare for reforestation projects. Notably, along with the Yen Lap protective forest, nearly 2,000 hectares of planted forest funded by the provincial budget will be cleared for reforestation in 2026. This means that the same area of protective, special-use, and strategically important forests will be replanted, supplemented, and enriched.

Towards the successful implementation of the 2026 Tree Planting Festival, expected to take place in early March, localities are currently developing plans to launch a city-wide tree planting campaign, surveying planting areas, mobilizing vehicles, machinery, and manpower, and preparing seedlings. According to Vu Duy Van, Secretary of the Hoanh Mo Commune Party Committee: Hoanh Mo Commune has held meetings and agreed with households on the types of trees to be planted: peach, plum, pine, cinnamon, and star anise; and has announced a policy of providing 100% of seedlings to people for reforestation. These new features this year have encouraged people to participate enthusiastically, determined to change the commune's environmental landscape; creating conditions for Hoanh Mo to be more beautiful, greener, and cleaner, attracting tourists and tourism projects in line with the commune's development strategy.
Previously, in 2025, Quang Ninh achieved very high results in reforestation with a total planted area of nearly 35,800 hectares, the highest in many years, three times higher than in 2024. According to Mr. Nguyen Van Bong, Deputy Head of the Provincial Forest Protection Department: This is considered a well-deserved result of the high level of effort in planting and protecting forests by the people of Quang Ninh province in recent years. This result also serves as motivation for Quang Ninh to complete the task of achieving a forest cover rate of 46% or higher in the entire province by 2026.
