Upgrading agricultural products from the village

The National One Commune One Product Program (OCOP) has been implemented nationwide since 2018 to develop agricultural, non-agricultural, and service products with advantages in each locality along the value chain, carried out by private and collective economic entities, in order to increase income for people, especially in rural areas. Along with other localities in the province, the OCOP program has been enthusiastically embraced by the people of Thanh Thuy district.

Upgrading agricultural products from the village

The OCOP honey products of Thanh Thuy Honey Cooperative have packaging that suits consumer tastes.

In 2022, Tu Vu Honey, produced by Thanh Thuy Beekeeping Cooperative, was recognized as a 3-star OCOP product. Established in 2020 with 10 members, the Thanh Thuy Beekeeping Cooperative currently has approximately 2,500 beehives, yielding about 20,000 liters of honey annually. As the cooperative's director, Mr. Le Dinh Thanh, residing in Zone 2, Tu Vu commune, owns 500 beehives and earns approximately 500 million VND per year after deducting expenses. To improve the quality of his honey, in 2022 Mr. Thanh invested nearly 200 million VND to purchase a honey dewatering machine (to remove water from raw honey). Dewatered honey is purer, has a longer shelf life, and is less prone to discoloration and chemical changes.

After 4 years of implementing the OCOP Program, Thanh Thuy district now has 10 OCOP products with 4 stars and 15 products with 3 stars. In 2024, the district will have 6 new products participating in the 3-star and 4-star evaluation, including 2 products proposed for re-certification.

Comrade Nguyen Minh Tan - Vice Chairman of Thanh Thuy District People's Committee, said: The district is promoting and introducing OCOP products through various forms such as: applying information technology, e-commerce, online sales, establishing display points, and encouraging OCOP producers to participate in forums connecting supply and demand, connecting trade in OCOP products and agricultural products, and participating in connecting tourism programs and routes to bring tourists to visit and shop at stores selling and introducing OCOP products, restaurants, hotels, and experience firsthand OCOP production facilities. Through this, it contributes to connecting supply and demand between OCOP producers and commercial centers, businesses, and customers inside and outside the province.
