HAGL's application of science

HAGL no longer holds the top spot in the LPBank V-League 2024-2025, but the team from the mountainous region still maintains an unbeaten streak after 5 rounds. In the 1-1 draw against Thanh Hoa in round 5, HAGL led until the final minutes, despite having to compete against one of the most physically strong opponents.

One of the reasons for HAGL's unbeaten run, as revealed by the team itself, is the application of sports science in training and competition.

HAGL players received oxygen before the match against Thanh Hoa.

"Statistics show that HAGL players ran continuously during the match against Thanh Hoa. Six HAGL players ran more than 11 km in 90 minutes. The GPS fitness index for the second half, including distance run and sustained intensity zones, was even higher than in the first half, meaning that oxygen debt has been greatly improved," HAGL affirmed.

The mountain town team helped its players receive oxygen before and during matches to improve their physical fitness. Specifically, "recharging" with oxygen before the match helped players adapt quickly to the altitude or overcome the psychological barrier of stress before the kick-off. Meanwhile, "replenishing" oxygen during the halftime break helped players maintain their energy levels throughout the 45 minutes of the second half.

Technical Director Vu Tien Thanh shared: "HAGL Club is bringing the latest technology and sports science applications into football. Currently, the club has established and is operating a sports medicine room, a sports science room, and a tactical analysis room. This is one of the factors that is helping the revolution in utilizing human resources trained by HAGL to gradually progress with each match."

HAGL's impressive statistics

After 5 rounds, only 2 V-League teams remain unbeaten: HAGL and Ha Tinh. HAGL, under Technical Director Vu Tien Thanh, boasts the best defensive record in the league with 3 clean sheets and only 2 goals conceded. HAGL's scoring statistics are also stable with 8 goals after 5 rounds (ranking second in the league).

HAGL soars high

After struggling to avoid relegation last season, HAGL is undergoing a transformation this season thanks to good preparation in terms of players' mental and physical fitness, along with the defensive counter-attacking philosophy, tight and pragmatic play that coach Vu Tien Thanh has thoroughly implemented.

The team from the mountainous region is achieving initial success by abandoning its adventurous attacking style and adopting a more scientific approach, demonstrating better self-awareness and understanding of its opponents.

The 0-0 draw against Nam Dinh and the 1-1 win against Thanh Hoa showed HAGL's maturity in terms of character, as they were able to overcome the pressure of strong opponents, despite having a thin and inexperienced squad with 9 U.23 players in the lineup.

In the next four rounds, HAGL will play away at Binh Duong FC, then return home to host Hanoi Police FC, followed by two away matches against Ha Tinh and Hai Phong. With such a demanding schedule, HAGL needs to put in a great effort if they want to maintain their position in the top group.
