That long journey created a strip of land along the rivers that would later be called the "Land of Nine Dragons." From Gia Dinh to Saigon and now Ho Chi Minh City, it was a "green" journey that formed the core of the Southern land. Now, it is highly advisable to build a museum in Ho Chi Minh City for the history of the entire Southern region, and that museum should be named "Land of the South." This museum should showcase the history of expansion, construction, preservation, and the struggle to protect every inch of land, leading Ho Chi Minh City and the Southern region into a new era.
Recently, two Vietnamese cities made it into the top 100 most attractive cities in the world : Ho Chi Minh City at 76th place and Hanoi at 83rd. If we could build a "Southern Land" history museum in Ho Chi Minh City, the city named after President Ho Chi Minh would undoubtedly become even more attractive in the global rankings.
Ho Chi Minh City currently has a war museum that attracts many tourists. If a "Southern Land" history museum were added, this pair of museums would give visitors a comprehensive understanding of the history of land reclamation and defense in Southern Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City. Not only tourists, but also students in Ho Chi Minh City and Southern Vietnam would greatly benefit from this museum, which would serve as an open book, helping them learn history and feel proud of their homeland's history.
When a "Southern Land" museum is established, it's highly recommended to have exhibition rooms showcasing artwork about this region, especially fine art pieces, including paintings and sculptures, along with historical and artistic photographs. Because the "Southern Land" museum is highly comprehensive, its exhibits will be rich, colorful, and engaging. It will not only reflect history, but more importantly, the character of the migrants from Southern Vietnam and the people of Southern Vietnam today. Viewers will immediately recognize the beautiful similarities between the migrants from Southern Vietnam of the past and the people of Southern Vietnam, the people of Saigon today. This also explains why Ho Chi Minh City is now known as the "City of Compassion," perhaps the most unique designation in the world for a city.
We sincerely hope that the leaders of Ho Chi Minh City will pay attention to this story, and even more so, that in the not too distant future, Ho Chi Minh City will have a museum named "Southern Land".
