Chau Doc City (An Giang Province) is situated at the confluence of three rivers – where the Chau Doc River meets the Hau River. Every year, the flood season not only provides fertile alluvial soil and abundant produce, but also gives this riverside city a very unique beauty.
Therefore, the flood season has long become a "brand" that attracts tourists from near and far.

The flood season brings a truly impressive landscape to An Giang. Instead of rushing in like a torrential flood, the water rises slowly each day, gradually filling the rivers, canals, ponds, and lakes… The once lush green fields are now submerged in a vast expanse of white water, with the mystical Thất Sơn mountain range shimmering in the distance. The entire region seems to have donned a new, rustic yet captivating cloak.
During the flood season, the people of the Mekong Delta are blessed by nature with abundant produce, bringing economic benefits and culinary value. In the floodwaters from the upstream, carrying rich red silt, countless fish and shrimp flock in, such as snakehead fish, catfish, tilapia, and other species. Besides seafood, the flood season also brings other famous fruits and vegetables like water hyacinth, water lilies, water spinach, and carambola.

After nearly a year of cultivation, the flood season is a time for the land to rest, washing away toxins and providing a new layer of silt. Therefore, during this season, farmers change their livelihood activities; instead of farming , they turn to exploiting the abundant resources from the rivers and waterways. Setting nets, casting nets, and using traps are simple fishing methods familiar to people in the Mekong Delta, suitable for small families.
Besides taking boat trips along the Vinh Te Canal and through the flooded rice fields, visitors can also explore the colorful floating village at the Chau Doc river junction – a very popular destination recently. Additionally, the Victoria Chau Doc Hotel, located along the Chau Doc river, offers an ideal vantage point for visitors to admire the panoramic view of the flooded fields at the river junction during the rainy season.
