The scale of the damage raises suspicions that the targets of the attacks were ammunition depots containing NATO missiles supplied to Ukrainian forces and various other weapons. Local sources confirmed that several Russian reconnaissance drones were seen in the area after the attacks.

According to information published by SF, citing an official report from the Russian Ministry of Defense , 22 Ukrainian drones were destroyed by Russian air defenses on the night of July 14th. Of these, 15 were destroyed in the Bryansk region, 6 in Crimea, and one was intercepted in the Lipetsk region.
Another wave of Ukrainian drone attacks was repelled by Russian forces on the morning of July 15. According to official Ukrainian military reports, six more drones were intercepted in the Bryansk, Oryol, and Kursk regions. Another Ukrainian drone was destroyed over the Black Sea near the city of Sevastopol around midday on July 15.
