This is Russia's second consecutive major attack. Previously, on March 21, the Russian army also launched another large-scale attack.
SF informed that about 90 Russian missiles and 60 suicide drones were used in this attack. Ukrainian air defense forces intercepted 35 missiles.
At around 02 a.m. (local time), Russian suicide drones began attacking targets in various parts of Ukraine. Two hours later, Russian missiles struck. Missiles believed to be launched from the Tu-95ms, Tu22-m3, Kinzhal hypersonic missiles launched from the MiG-31 and ground-based missile systems were also used.
In the morning, after the main phase of the operation, a number of targets in Ukraine continued to be hit in a second wave of attacks.
Videos recording explosions in different parts of Ukraine have confirmed multiple Russian attacks. Dozens of explosions echoed in the Kharkiv, Zaporozhie, Odessa, Vinnytsya, Ivano-Frankivsk, Khmelnitsky, Dnepropetrovsk, Kirovograd, Poltava, Mykolaiv and Sumy regions.
As a result of the attack, many regions of Ukraine lost power and lost Internet connection. Damage to strategic energy facilities has disrupted operations of major industrial enterprises.
In Zaporozhye, missile attacks targeted numerous energy and military facilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. One of the main targets is the Dnipro Hydroelectric Station in Zaporizhia. The control station and its dam were hit by at least two missiles and one of them struck the engine room. According to reports from local authorities, after the attack, a fierce fire broke out. Ukrainian officials confirmed that there were no casualties.
Russia also carried out a precision strike against the Ladyzhenskaya TPP plant in the Vinnytsia region. According to local reports, the factory was hit by at least three missiles. The exact damage has not yet been disclosed.
In the Kharkiv region, TPP Zmievskaya and CHP-3 were discontinued. In the city of Dnipro, TPP Pridneprovskaya was also attacked. Dnepropetrovsk region, the target of the attack was TPP Krivyi Rih.
In the Ivano-Frankivsk region, one of the major power plants in western Ukraine, Burshtyn TPP was also hit by Russian air strikes.
Heavy damage to energy facilities in the Odessa region was also reported. Drones and missiles penetrated the air defense system in Odessa and destroyed one or more local transformer stations.
