In the dry season, the lake area reaches about 500ha, in the rainy season, the water surface expands from 700 to 900ha. Lak Lake is also a place to keep the unique cultural values of the indigenous M'nong people.

Around Lak lake are wet rice fields, interspersed with villages of the M'nong people such as Le village, Jun village, and M'lieng village. According to the language of the M'nong ethnic group, the word "Lak" means "water".

The lake is surrounded by many hills and mountains, especially in the upstream is the Chu Yang Sin mountain range with a peak of 2.442 m above sea level. Thanks to the primeval forests covered with rich flora, the water source in Lak Lake rarely dries up, even in the dry season of the Central Highlands.

Recently, the People's Committee of Dak Lak province has issued a decision approving the project of eco-tourism, resort and entertainment at the historical, cultural and environmental forest management board of Ho Lak in the 2021-2030 period.

The objective of the project is to preserve and promote the values of the natural landscape; exploit the potentials and advantages of biodiversity, scenic spots and beliefs associated with ethnic cultural identities.
