Admire the beauty of the country from above.

In our New Year's conversation with three young artists from various artistic fields in the Mekong Delta, we were reminded of the line "We are young and joyful, we are young and joyful, life is vibrant and beautiful" from the song "Spring and Youth" (music by La Hoi, lyrics by The Lu). They have lived their youth to the fullest, pursuing their passions and dedicating themselves to promoting and spreading the beauty of their homeland.

In the current young photography scene of the Mekong Delta, Tran Minh Luong is establishing his own path with drone photography. His success isn't just about awards and medals; for him, it's also about the joy of traveling, observing, and capturing the beauty of the country from above.

“From lakes to hillsides, from valleys to the open sea, renewable energy is illuminating the nation’s powerful journey forward. Wind turbines and solar panels not only generate electricity but also spread belief in an era of sustainable, self-reliant, and green development. This is a turning point, where nature and humanity are building the future together.”

This is the caption by Tran Minh Luong for the photo series "Illuminating Green Aspirations". Out of over 2,000 entries, the series was awarded a Gold Medal at the 6th Young Photographers Festival in 2025. "Illuminating Green Aspirations" also won second prize in the "Green Moments - Green Actions - Green Future" photo contest. This series captivated viewers with its meticulous work, artistic value, and the message it conveyed.

In terms of meticulous work, Tran Minh Luong traveled to many locations to capture impressive moments of solar and wind power projects in Ca Mau , Dak Lak, Lam Dong, Quang Tri, and other provinces. Through his flycam footage, viewers can visualize the scale of each project and the surreal beauty of the country's landscape. His five photos, some taken at dawn and others when the sun is shining brightly, showcase lush green mountains and clear blue waters, as he shared – "where nature and people together create the future."

Tran Minh Luong, born in 1990, is an electrical engineer working at Power Generation Corporation 2 (Thoi An Dong Ward, Can Tho City). He has loved photography since high school. In university, he took up photography, including drone photography, and officially embarked on a professional art photography career in 2017. His job takes him to many places, giving him the opportunity to showcase his photographic art and capture the beauty of his homeland more fully.

In 2017, Tran Minh Luong had his work selected for exhibition at the Mekong Delta Regional Art Photography Festival, and two years later, at the same festival, he won a Bronze Medal with "Early Morning Market," capturing an early morning at Phong Dien floating market (Can Tho City). A significant milestone in Tran Minh Luong's success was at the 2020 National Tourism Art Photography Competition - "Discover Vietnam." Out of more than 15,600 entries, his photograph "Flower Boat," taken with a drone, won first prize. Following that, "Flower Boat" received an Encouragement Award at the Vietnam Art Photography Competition. The work depicts a twilight scene in Hoi An ancient town, viewed from above, with flower lights, flower boats, and ancient town lanterns blending into romantic colors.

Having been involved in photography for nearly 10 years, Tran Minh Luong has amassed a diverse collection showcasing the beauty of his homeland. From the highlands of Northwest Vietnam to the vast river deltas, from the majestic mountains of the Central Highlands to the lush green mangrove forests of U Minh…

With his hometown of Can Tho, Tran Minh Luong pours his heart into his aerial photographs, capturing the colorful floating market, the Love Bridge bathed in the red glow of the sunset, the Can Tho Bridge shrouded in early morning clouds, and the romantic rivers and gardens of Tay Do (Can Tho). The beauty in Tran Minh Luong's works is not generic but imbued with emotion and a message about the harmonious blend of diverse life and the breathtaking beauty of nature.

In his journey to discover the beauty of the country, Tran Minh Luong was accompanied by his wife, Ha Huong, a broadcaster from the National Radio Broadcasting Station (VOV). Ha Huong said that, having accompanied her husband on many trips and shared the excitement of capturing impressive moments, she sensed his passion for photography. “First and foremost, for him, photography is like an ‘emotional anchor,’ helping to connect, maintain a positive state of mind, and contribute to spreading the beauty of our homeland,” Ha Huong said.

For Minh Luong, each award isn't just a peak, but a milestone on his long journey. The young man, born in 1990, shared with me his plans for a collection of drone photos of Vietnam's famous bridges, and he intends to explore traditional craft villages, heritage sites, and destinations across the country. For him, Vietnam possesses endless beauty! Photography has allowed him to travel far, learn many things, make many friends, and find balance in life. His youth, therefore, is "so much more beautiful."
