Banks begin raising interest rates, extending the upward trend.
According to Lao Dong newspaper, on September 3rd, Vietnam Export Import Commercial Bank (Eximbank) issued a new deposit interest rate schedule, increasing rates for short-term maturities. However, Eximbank also recorded a decrease in interest rates for one maturity period.
Eximbank's online deposit interest rates are currently listed as follows:
Interest rates for 1-month terms increased by 0.3 percentage points, to 3.8% per annum.
The interest rate for a 3-month term is 4.3% per annum.
The interest rate for a 6-month term is 5.2% per annum.
The interest rate for a 9-month term is 4.5% per annum.
Interest rates for 12-month terms decreased by 0.2 percentage points, to 5.2% per annum.
The interest rate for an 18-month term is 5.1% per annum.

However, generally speaking, the upward adjustment of interest rates since the beginning of 2024 has been maintained until now. According to statistics from Lao Dong newspaper, last month, the market recorded 17 banks increasing savings interest rates, including: Eximbank, ACB, Agribank, Sacombank, Saigonbank, VietBank, TPBank, CBBank, VIB, Dong A Bank, VPBank, Techcombank,SHB , VietBank, PVCombank, Nam A Bank, and HDBank.
Notably, August saw an increase in interest rates at Agribank , a major bank in the Big4 group. Agribank's interest rates increased by 0.1-0.2 percentage points across various maturities, currently ranging from 1.7% to 4.8% per year.
