The coal industry successfully overcame difficulties.

Việt NamViệt Nam24/12/2024

These days, in the coal mining areas, construction sites, workshops, and mine shafts, everywhere you look, you can see a vibrant atmosphere of emulation and high determination to successfully implement the 90-day intensive emulation campaign in the fourth quarter of 2024, producing as much coal as possible and contributing to the growth of the Vietnam Coal and Mineral Industry Group (TKV), as well as Quang Ninh province.

The 90-day intensive emulation campaign for the fourth quarter was launched by TKV (Vietnam Coal Corporation) from the beginning of October 2024. Following the launch of the campaign, companies and units in the coal industry immediately began implementing the intensive program, and TKV's production and business activities have achieved many positive results. In response to this campaign, units focused on implementing specific operational tasks tailored to each shift and each day, increasing the useful time in each production shift. This included taking advantage of favorable weather conditions to boost coal production, strengthening inspection and control, enhancing management, ensuring security and order in production, and maximizing the mobilization of equipment, machinery, and personnel to serve coal production and sales.

In these final days of the year, the work ethic of coal industry officials and workers is high, determined to complete and exceed the targets set in the 90-day intensive emulation campaign for the fourth quarter and the entire year of 2024.

The intensive emulation campaign helped TKV achieve breakthrough growth in its production and business targets in the final months of the year. In the first 11 months of 2024, TKV mined 34 million tons of coal and sold over 42 million tons. For the whole year 2024, TKV is expected to mine over 38 million tons of coal, sell 46.7 million tons, achieve revenue of 167,250 billion VND, and expect a profit of 6,230 billion VND, reaching 142% of the annual plan. The Group contributed 17,650 billion VND to the state budget in Quang Ninh, ensuring stable jobs and income for its employees. Notably, it successfully fulfilled its political mission of ensuring sufficient coal supply to meet the needs of thermal power plants.

Determined to achieve the highest possible results in fulfilling its 2024 plan and tasks, TKV is also preparing the necessary conditions for production and business in 2025. Specifically, the Group aims to achieve a domestic production of nearly 37 million tons of clean coal, a consumption of 50 million tons, revenue of approximately 173,000 billion VND, and tax contributions to Quang Ninh province exceeding 17,000 billion VND. To achieve these goals, TKV requests that Quang Ninh province direct relevant departments and localities to continue strengthening state management of coal production and business activities and coal supply for electricity generation; coordinate and create favorable conditions for TKV to effectively carry out coal production and business, protect security and order, resources, and mine boundaries; and pay attention to resolving difficulties in project implementation and land management procedures.

At the working session of the Provincial Party Standing Committee with the Party Standing Committee and leaders of TKV on the results of production and business in 2024 and the goals and plans for production and business in 2025, Comrade Vu Dai Thang, Member of the Central Committee of the Party and Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, highly appreciated the cooperation and partnership of the coal industry with the development of Quang Ninh province. This year, the coal industry contributed 18% to the province's economic growth, created jobs, ensured social security, and contributed to the overall development of the province.

Looking ahead, the Provincial Party Secretary suggested that we must frankly acknowledge the shortcomings and limitations in coordination activities over the past period. Based on that, we must fundamentally change the approach, focusing on clear responsibilities, specific tasks, and timelines, ensuring increasingly effective and substantive coordination between the province and the coal industry. TKV (Vietnam Coal Corporation) will work alongside the province in achieving green transformation, energy transition, and improving the efficiency of using mine waste rock as backfill material for investment projects.

In 2024, TKV faced numerous difficulties and challenges, particularly the severe impact of Typhoon No. 3. However, with the spirit of "Discipline and Unity," the cadres and workers of the coal industry were determined to overcome difficulties, strive to stabilize production and business, and complete the tasks of 2024, laying the foundation for the successful implementation of the plan set for the new year 2025.
