The San Chay people in Ba Che district account for approximately 18.33% of the district's total population, mainly concentrated in Thanh Son commune, along the Ba Che River. On December 20th and 21st, Thanh Son commune organized the 3rd San Chay Ethnic Culture Festival in2024 withmany diverse activities, such as: exchanges on Soong Co folk songs, Tac Xinh dance, and especially, for the first time, a performance of the traditional wedding ceremony of the San Chay people.

The wedding procession of the San Chay people has many unique features. As they approach the bride's house, the bride's family arranges many plates along the road, and the matchmaker from the groom's side places a sticky rice cake on each plate, symbolizing prosperity and abundance. The bride's radiant smile (standing in the front) on her wedding day. When the groom's family arrives at the bride's house to complete the wedding ceremony and bring the bride home, the groom (the one holding the first umbrella) walks with the groomsmen, and the bride walks with the bridesmaids, symbolizing the bride's purity until she goes to her husband's home. The mother-in-law leads the bride around the house on her first day at her husband's home, with a typical San Chay kitchen. The festival also features many other activities such as rice cake pounding competitions... Culinary feast competition The blindfolded duck-catching game brings lots of refreshing laughter... The happy couple, the husband guiding his wife in the crossbow shooting event at the festival. The festival brings much joy to everyone and helps young people to love their national customs and traditions even more.
