
The 7th National Assembly held its first session.
From June 25 to July 4, 1981, the 7th National Assembly held its first session in Hanoi . This was the first session of the National Assembly after the 1980 Constitution came into effect, marking an important step in perfecting the state apparatus during the period of national construction and development.
At the session, the National Assembly passed laws on the organization of the state apparatus and elected key leadership positions. Comrade Truong Chinh was elected Chairman of the State Council; lawyer Nguyen Huu Tho was elected Chairman of the National Assembly; and Comrade Pham Van Dong was elected Chairman of the Council of Ministers.
The session also consolidated important state agencies, contributing to strengthening the political system and improving management effectiveness in the new era.
Establish a Police Training School
On June 25, 1946, the Ministry of Interior of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam issued Decree No. 215/NV-P2 establishing the Police Training School - the first training facility of the Vietnamese revolutionary police force.
Established during the early years of the revolutionary government, the school was tasked with training and developing police officers to serve in protecting the government and maintaining security and order. During the resistance wars against French colonialism and American imperialism, as well as fulfilling international obligations, the school trained tens of thousands of officers for the People's Public Security Force.
Over 80 years of construction and development, from an initial training facility, the unit has evolved into the People's Security Academy - one of the leading training and scientific research centers of the Vietnam People's Public Security Force.
Ceremony to unveil the commemorative plaque for the Liberation Newspaper.
On June 25, 2017, in the Lo Go - Xa Mat National Park area (Tay Ninh), Dai Doan Ket Newspaper held a ceremony to erect a commemorative plaque for Giai Phong Newspaper - the official mouthpiece of the National Liberation Front of South Vietnam during the resistance war against the US and for national salvation.
During the war years, the Liberation Newspaper was an important voice of the national liberation struggle in the South, bringing together many patriotic journalists, writers, and intellectuals. After the country was unified, in early 1977, the Liberation Newspaper and the National Salvation Newspaper merged, publishing the first issue of what is now the Great Unity Newspaper.
The ceremony to unveil the commemorative plaque contributes to paying tribute to revolutionary journalists and educating future generations about revolutionary traditions.
Chem Temple receives the Certificate of Special National Monument.
On June 25, 2018, Bac Tu Liem district (Hanoi) held a ceremony to receive the Certificate of Ranking as a Special National Monument for Chem Temple according to Decision No. 2082/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister.
Chèm Temple, also known as Chèm Shrine or Lý Hiệu Úy Temple, is a place of worship dedicated to Đức Hy Khang Thiên Vương Lý Ông Trọng – a legendary figure associated with the Hùng Duệ Vương era. Considered one of the oldest temples in Vietnam, it stands out for its traditional architecture and rich collection of artifacts, including royal decrees, stone steles, statues, horizontal plaques, couplets, and many other valuable items of historical, cultural, and artistic significance.
Being recognized as a Special National Monument not only affirms the outstanding value of Chem Temple in the cultural heritage of Thang Long - Hanoi, but also contributes to raising awareness of preserving and promoting traditional cultural values in contemporary life.
Professor Ho Dac Di has passed away.
On June 25, 1984, Professor Ho Dac Di – one of Vietnam's most prominent scientists, physicians, and medical educators of the 20th century – passed away at the age of 84.
Born in 1900, he was the first Vietnamese to graduate as a surgeon and the only Vietnamese to be recognized as a university professor during the French colonial period. After the August Revolution of 1945, he held many important positions in the fields of healthcare and education, including the position of Rector of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy.
He made many important contributions to the fields of surgery, scientific research, and training of doctors for the country. In 1996, he was posthumously awarded the Ho Chi Minh Prize for Science and Technology.
World Seafarers' Day
June 25th each year is celebrated by the international community as Seafarer's Day, according to a decision adopted at the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Diplomatic Conference in Manila, Philippines in 2010.
This day aims to honor the contributions of millions of seafarers worldwide to international trade, maritime transport, and global supply chains. It is also an occasion to recognize the silent sacrifices of those who regularly work in harsh conditions at sea.
