People flock to the Van Don orange festival.

Starting today (December 9th), the 2023 Van Don Orange Festival is taking place in Hamlet 10/10, Van Yen Commune (Van Don District). This is the first time the People's Committee of Van Don District has organized this unique agricultural product festival.

According to the People's Committee of Van Don District, the Van Don Orange Week is organized to preserve, promote, introduce, and publicize the image, potential, and advantages of Van Yen commune in developing orange cultivation, while promoting community-based tourism and experiential visits to orange orchards, thereby increasing income for the people. The Orange Week is also an opportunity for people to honor orange-growing households, contributing to the formation of local OCOP (One Commune One Product) products.

Van Don oranges are in full bloom, every tree is laden with fruit.

Van Don oranges are planned to be grown in many communes with an area of ​​over 400 hectares, but the largest concentration is in Van Yen commune. Oranges here are grown in large orchards, and to date, the entire Van Yen commune has 68 households growing oranges.

The Van Yen orange variety from Van Don District is renowned as one of Quang Ninh province's flagship agricultural products, known for its fragrant, sweet, and delicious taste. This crop is increasingly favored by consumers in the local market as well as neighboring regions.

Besides their economic value due to widespread consumption, the orange farms in Van Yen commune also combine their operations with experiential tourism for locals and visitors.

When visiting the orange orchards, visitors can pick oranges themselves and enjoy many local culinary specialties such as free-range chicken, seafood, etc.

Van Don oranges thrive in the local soil, resulting in incredibly sweet fruit. The price per kilogram in the market ranges from 40,000 to 70,000 VND/kg, depending on the variety.
