People hand over rare Java pangolin

On December 3, the Economic Department of Phu Nghia Commune (Dong Nai Province) received a pangolin voluntarily handed over by a local resident.

Previously, at around 4am on December 3, Mr. Dieu Lu, residing in Bu Gia Phuc 1 village (Phu Nghia commune), discovered a pangolin wandering into his family's kitchen area. After learning that this was a rare wild animal that needed to be protected, Mr. Lu captured it and handed it over to the authorities of Phu Nghia commune.

According to the initial assessment of the authorities of Phu Nghia commune, this is a Java pangolin, female, weighing 3.9 kg, belonging to group IB, a rare wild animal that is prioritized for protection and strictly prohibited from exploitation, use, sale, and consumption in any form.

On the same day, the People's Committee of Phu Nghia commune made a record of receipt and coordinated with the Forest Protection Department of Region 8 to inspect and hand over to the Propaganda, Tourism , Rescue and Conservation Center of Bu Gia Map National Park to care for and release the pangolin back to the natural environment.
