Reputable people in Nua Ha

At 71 years old, with nearly 50 years of Party membership, Mr. Dinh Van Nghi, from Nua Ha hamlet, Tan Lap commune, Thanh Son district, has reached a "rare old age," yet he remains enthusiastic about village and commune affairs. As a respected elder in the community, his persuasive voice and authority are always heeded and followed by the people, contributing to the economic development of Nua Ha, fostering unwavering trust in the Party and government, and working diligently to build a prosperous and happy new rural area.

Mr. Nghi always took care of both his family and community affairs, so he was listened to and followed by officials, Party members, and the people of Nua Ha.

Sitting at a tea table in a simple house shaded by lush greenery, we discussed village and community affairs with joy and enthusiasm. Mr. Nghi said: "Nua Ha has changed a lot now, journalist. There are only 13 poor households left in the whole area. Even if we don't engage in hill and forest farming, VAC (gardening, animal husbandry, and aquaculture), or raising buffalo, cows, chickens, and pigs, we are always striving to escape poverty. The young people in the village, those who are doing well go to school, others go to work far away in industrial zones, instead of 'sitting idly by' in poverty and drinking alcohol like before."

Accompanied by Mr. Dao Sinh Thai, a veteran official of the commune, we took a tour of Mr. Nghi's house and witnessed his family's strong economic drive. Inside his integrated farming model (VAC), livestock pens, fruit trees, and a fish pond thrive. He enthusiastically shared: "I currently have over 400 Diễn pomelo trees ready for harvest. Although pomelo prices have dropped this year, they are still a positive supplementary source of income for my family, giving me peace of mind to continue participating in the Party Committee and the residential area's Party branch as its Secretary for many consecutive years."

As a respected elder in Nua Ha, he always believed that to gain the people's trust, one must be able to speak and act effectively. And to speak effectively, one must have practical experience, knowledge, expertise, and dedication. With this mindset, in business and in the community, he and his family always strived to be at the forefront of all endeavors without hesitation. For 24 years as the Party Secretary of Nua Ha, his style, demeanor, and commitment to "matching words with actions" have always inspired Party members, the masses, and the people to follow his example. From building a cultural life and preserving the traditions of the homeland to developing the economy and participating in the village and commune's emulation movements, cadres and Party members in Nua Ha wholeheartedly followed his lead and acted with the highest determination, all with the desire to make Tan Lap increasingly prosperous. Therefore, Nua Ha has been recognized as a provincial-level cultural residential area, and in 2023, he was one of two outstanding individuals from Thanh Son district selected to attend the Provincial Conference honoring elderly people excelling in economic activities for the period 2018-2023. Thanks to the trust and respect of the local people and his prestige within the community, he was recognized as one of the nine respected elderly people in Tan Lap.

With over 400 Diễn pomelo trees, Mr. Nghị's pomelo farming model is one of the largest pomelo orchards in Nưa Hạ.

According to Mr. Dinh Van Nghi: As a respected elder in the residential area, the best way to convince the people is through actions. People always need concrete, persuasive actions. Besides that, a solid and practical knowledge base is also necessary to maintain credibility when speaking before the people.

With an annual income of over 200 million VND after deducting expenses from his integrated farming model (VAC), while not a large sum, his way of thinking and doing business serves as a compelling example for the people to follow. Despite numerous responsibilities at the Party branch, commune, and village levels, he always organizes his time efficiently to visit each household and Party member, listening and understanding their needs in order to offer sincere advice on their lifestyles and business practices. He emphasizes: Besides speaking to the people, one must also speak to the Party members. If the Party branch secretary doesn't speak correctly, accurately, and persuasively, it's difficult to maintain their role, and difficult to get Party members to listen, let alone follow voluntarily…

Slender but very agile, he was always busily working in his garden as if he never tired. As we left, he laughed heartily: "Nua Ha has a strong Party branch and is a provincial-level cultural residential area. The people trust the Party, and the Party trusts the people, so what can't be achieved? Isn't that right, provincial journalist?"

Like the "mountain" of the village, always a reliable and solid support for the people and Party members, respected elders like Mr. Nghi are contributing to making the mountainous and remote areas of Thanh Son district increasingly brighter with many new developments.
