On April 12th, Mr. Hoang Quoc Huong, Director of the Department of Health of Lao Cai province, announced that the Covid-19 outbreak at Khanh Yen Secondary School (Van Ban district), where 52 students tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus, has been brought under control.
According to Mr. Tran Van Tay, Principal of Khanh Yen Secondary School, students infected with Covid-19 who are self-isolating at home will study online. The school's teaching and learning activities are proceeding as normal. The school has temporarily suspended all group activities.
Meanwhile, according to the Ministry of Health , on April 12th, the whole country recorded 261 cases of Covid-19. This is the highest number of Covid-19 cases recorded in a single day since December 2022. According to Associate Professor Tran Dac Phu, Senior Advisor of the Center for Emergency Response to Public Health Events (Ministry of Health), the Covid-19 epidemic will not disappear like the SARS epidemic in 2003. People need to wear masks in high-risk areas, wash their hands frequently with disinfectant, avoid contact with people with suspected symptoms, and get fully vaccinated.
On April 12th, following information circulating on social media about " Hanoi being ready for online teaching and learning when students contract Covid-19," Mr. Tran The Cuong, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, affirmed that this information was inaccurate. Schools with students infected with Covid-19 need to be monitored and guided; parents should inform the homeroom teacher and allow students to stay home until they recover; and normal teaching and learning activities must be ensured.
