NDO - Recently, the official Instagram page of the unit responsible for the restoration of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris posted images of the roof of the building, showing that it is over 90% complete. Accordingly, the cathedral is ready to reopen to tourists on December 8th.

According to Reuters, the French government is still unsure of the exact cause of the fire at the cathedral.

Following the fire, it took two years just to stabilize the structure of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris so that restorers could work safely inside.

The reconstruction project is currently underway with a team of approximately 1,000 artisans and craftsmen from across France. The complete restoration of the cathedral is expected to be finished by 2025, according to the world's leading travel magazine, Lonely Planet.

As part of its reopening, Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris is planning to host several special exhibitions and display artifacts related to the cathedral's history. New viewing platforms erected at the end of the cathedral square will offer visitors stunning views.

Nearby, visitors can learn more about the immense efforts to restore the cathedral at the exhibition "Notre Dame de Paris: The Heart of Restoration." The exhibition is held in a former underground parking lot behind the auditorium. The event is free, scheduled to run from December 6-8, and does not require reservations.

In addition, tourists can experience a virtual reality program called "Eternal Notre Dame". In this activity, visitors will watch a film that is approximately 45 minutes long.

Going back in time, the public will be able to reminisce about the past with the stories of those who played important roles in the construction of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris.

The long-standing Catholic daily newspaper La Croix in France reported that Olivier Ribadeau Dumas, Director and Parish Priest of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, shared that during this reopening, Mass will be celebrated continuously for eight days, presided over by the Archbishop of Paris, Laurent Ulrich. One of these ceremonies will be dedicated to those involved in the restoration work, including firefighters, volunteers, artisans, and staff.
