Among them, the Nhan Dan Newspaper and the Van Nghe Newspaper, issues dated July 3, 1976, record the political and social atmosphere of the period immediately following the 6th National Assembly's resolution to rename Saigon - Gia Dinh to Ho Chi Minh City, a milestone of special historical significance for the city and the entire country.
These issues are considered "historical witnesses in paper form," allowing readers to directly access the journalistic language, the way information was organized, and the pace of current events during the period when the country had just been reunified and was embarking on a new path of construction and development.
In addition, the exhibition also showcases many representative old newspapers/issues, representing the stages of development of revolutionary journalism and Ho Chi Minh City journalism: from central and city-level newspapers to publications reflecting urban life during periods of innovation, integration, and digital transformation, such as Tien Phong, Lao Dong, Cong Giao va Dan Toc , Saigon Giai Phong, and Phu Nu TPHCM… The original newspapers on display are part of a collection of over 1,000 newspapers spanning from the late 19th century to after the reunification of the country, owned by collector/record holder Huynh Minh Hiep - Deputy Head of the Office of the UNESCO Center for Research and Conservation of Vietnamese Antiquities.
