Certain professions are intrinsically linked to the nation's transformations. Journalism is one of them. Looking back at the 101-year journey of Vietnamese revolutionary journalism, what remains is not only the historical milestones and enduring works, but also the image of a press that has always stood alongside the nation during its most crucial moments. From the years of struggle for independence to the building, protection, and development of the country, journalism has never been detached.

In reality, the role of revolutionary journalism has never been limited to mere record-keeping. From its inception, journalism has carried the mission of "upholding justice and eliminating evil," protecting righteousness, promoting progressive values, and fighting against obstacles to social development. In this journey, journalism is not only a force on the ideological front but also contributes to building the cultural foundation of the nation. Articles on history, stories about the Vietnamese people, and columns preserving cultural identity have silently nurtured love for the homeland, national pride, and a sense of civic responsibility across generations.

Perhaps that's why the power of journalism lies not just in information. A good article doesn't simply inform readers about an event; it can also make them think, empathize, and act. Sometimes, a story about ordinary people quietly contributing to the community is far more moving than dry statistics or reports.

During the period of reform, this role became even more prominent. The press not only reflected the changes in the country but also became a part of that very process. From real-life experiences, many issues were discovered, reflected upon, and recommendations were made, contributing to making policies closer to the people and more practical. From this perspective, the press served as both a bridge and a channel for dialogue between the State and the people.

In particular, the press has contributed to fostering confidence and aspirations for development. Stories about innovation, about localities rising strongly, and about young people who dare to think and act have created a positive energy in society.

In the context of increasingly deep international integration, the press also undertakes a special mission on the foreign affairs front. While previously the press primarily served as a bridge between the Party, the State, and the people, today it also acts as a bridge connecting Vietnam with the world . Through objective, multifaceted, and responsible information, the press contributes to presenting an image of a peaceful, stable, dynamic, and aspirational Vietnam to the international community; at the same time, it helps the domestic public better understand the changes in the world amidst a volatile context.

FROM THE NEWSPAPER TO LIFE - Final Article: Technology Changes, the Mission Remains UnchangedIt was past noon, and many people had left the hall for lunch. At a table by the window, Le Thien Thanh, a reporter from the An Giang Provincial Newspaper and Radio-Television, was still intently focused on his computer screen. On the table were the camera's memory card, conference documents, and unprocessed audio clips. Less than an hour after finishing his reporting session, he was already embarking on another "race": editing the footage, writing commentary, and sending the news report back to the editorial office.

In the digital age, each piece of foreign affairs journalism is not merely an informational product but also a "soft ambassador" of the nation. Stories about Vietnam's development achievements, cultural identity, people, or responsible contributions to regional and global issues are helping to deepen understanding, strengthen trust, and enhance the country's position on the international stage.

As information competition intensifies and national image becomes an increasingly important resource for development, journalists are not only storytellers about Vietnam but also contributors to building the country's reputation, trust, and attractiveness in the eyes of the international community.

However, with the advent of the digital age, journalism also faces unprecedented challenges. Never before have the public had so many information choices as today. With just a smartphone, each person can access thousands of different news sources in minutes. Social media creates a vast communication space but also brings with it negative consequences such as fake news, misinformation, and unverified content.

In this context, mainstream journalism needs to assert its role even more. Amidst a sea of information, a mix of truth and falsehood, positive and negative, the public needs verified, responsible sources that prioritize social interests. Speed is a requirement of modern journalism, but accuracy and honesty remain core values that cannot be compromised.

Amidst the powerful currents of technology and digital media, that mission remains intact, although the methods of implementation face many demands for innovation. Another challenge facing news organizations is how to get closer to the younger generation. Gen Z is no longer the audience of the future, but the audience of the present. They grew up in a digital environment, accustomed to concise, visual, and constantly interactive content. This forces journalism to innovate in storytelling, delivery, and even content creation thinking.

But innovation doesn't mean chasing trends. More importantly, it's about finding ways to tell the stories of our country in a language that young people can relate to. Because the reality is, young people aren't turning their backs on history or current events. They just need approaches that are more relatable, authentic, and emotionally resonant.

Some say that when history is told through the destinies of individuals, when policies and strategies are explained by changes in daily life, and when the aspiration for national development is connected to the very personal dreams of each individual, then journalism will find the shortest path to reach the hearts of young readers.

Over a century later, journalistic technology has changed dramatically. Convergent newsrooms, artificial intelligence, big data, and multimedia platforms are transforming the face of journalism every day. But no matter how much the methods of expression change, the core values of revolutionary journalism remain unchanged: truth, responsibility, and a spirit of service.

The 101st anniversary of Vietnam's Revolutionary Press Day is an opportunity to look back on the glorious journey of generations of journalists who have dedicated themselves to the country. At the same time, it serves as a reminder of the responsibility of the press in the new era.

Amidst the constant changes in society, the press still needs to maintain its role as a guiding light for true, good, and beautiful values; contributing to strengthening faith, spreading a sense of responsibility, and inspiring aspirations for national development. Because, after all, the most enduring meaning of journalism remains accompanying the nation, standing on the side of truth, and contributing to making society better.
