Many households have received financial assistance.

On May 27th, leaders of the People's Committee of Tay Son District (Binh Dinh province) announced that the District People's Committee had recently requested the Ministry of Transport and Project Management Board 2 (the investor of the project to enhance transportation connectivity in the Central Highlands) to provide compensation for people affected by the project.

Immediately after the petition was submitted, the project's investor transferred 13.7 billion VND to the local authorities to pay compensation to households affected by the National Highway 19 upgrade project.

Mr. Nguyen Van Khanh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Tay Son District, said: "After receiving the money, we have paid compensation to 7 households subject to complete relocation and 9 households in the Bau Sen bridge area. The investor has promised to transfer the remaining amount soon." Currently, there are still 30 households affected by the National Highway 19 upgrade project waiting to receive compensation and support money.

As Thanh Nien newspaper has reported numerous times, the National Highway 19 upgrade project (part of the project to strengthen transportation connectivity in the Central Highlands) is managed by Project Management Board 2 (Ministry of Transport). The project spans 143 km, passing through Gia Lai and Binh Dinh provinces, with a total investment of approximately US$155.8 million (over VND 3,600 billion). Construction began in August 2021 and was initially scheduled for completion in 2023, but this was subsequently extended.

To date, the upgrade project for National Highway 19 remains unfinished and reveals many shortcomings. Specifically, many sections of the road surface are rough and full of potholes due to slow construction, and some sections are left unfinished but not watered, causing dust to fly everywhere. Furthermore, when constructing the temporary bridge at the Ba La bridge area (Tay Giang commune, Tay Son district), the contractor only built one lane, but the volume of traffic on National Highway 19 is very high, leading to frequent traffic congestion.
