Chaos among the "national photographers"

Người Lao ĐộngNgười Lao Động21/05/2024

Nowadays, with just a smartphone and a mobile data connection, anyone can become a livestreamer, filming and taking photos to post on social media. However, abusing this will create negative consequences for the social media environment as well as for real-world society.

An event organizer lamented that "protecting an event" and ensuring it runs according to plan is now incredibly difficult. Without careful management and information organization, serious events can be disrupted by "national photographers." Many funerals of famous figures have been exploited by photographers to gain likes and views on their personal accounts, with some even resorting to any means to achieve views and make money.

A recent incident of "seeking views" involved a group of 17 women from Kien Xuong town (Kien Xuong district, Thai Binh province) who performed yoga exercises in the middle of a busy road on May 17th for filming and photography. On May 19th, authorities fined 14 adults in the group for administrative violations related to gathering in large numbers and sitting or lying on the road, obstructing traffic.

In fact, except in prohibited situations, citizens have the right to record and disseminate information about activities in social life. On the positive side, it helps spread information to the community. Conversely, people also have the right to receive information.

The problem is that authorities cannot penalize these "photographers" unless they act aggressively or go so far as to violate the law and be prosecuted for disturbing public order. But no one can deny the chaotic and unsightly behavior of these "photographers."

Therefore, the authorities need to intervene to control and remind these "national photographers" to be responsible while "working." In addition, local authorities need to strictly punish those who intentionally violate the law. And to avoid distortion, it needs to be clarified that someone being punished is not for "filming" but for "violating the law and causing social unrest." Even as "national photographers," they still need to maintain a professional demeanor.
