According to Mr. Do Phuoc Qui, Vice Chairman of the Can Tho City Youth Union Council, from mid-June to the end of August 2026, the City Youth Union and Youth Union Council, in coordination with Educa Corporation, will organize an online summer camp. Mr. Qui stated: “The summer camp is for primary school students, with English courses (2 sessions/week), and integration skills (3 sessions/week) including: skills in applying artificial intelligence (AI) to create animated videos, design posters and mind maps. In addition, students will be equipped with knowledge of self-defense, preventing abuse, and preventing drowning through online counseling activities.”
The digital transformation in summer skills education for children has been highly appreciated by many parents. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy, residing in Area 5, Cai Rang Ward, whose child is in grade 6 at Hung Thanh Secondary School, shared: “From the beginning of June 2026 until now, my child has been back home for summer vacation, so I find the opening of online courses very suitable. Although not attending classes, with the support and connection of teachers, my child can review English and participate in activities to learn about AI with a lot of useful knowledge.”
During the summer, 118 units under the City Youth Union simultaneously implemented activities to care for, support, and educate children in essential skills. According to Mr. Le Trung Hieu, Secretary of the Ninh Kieu Ward Youth Union, soft skills education activities for children were integrated into the "Red Phoenix Flower" campaign. Accordingly, each Youth Union branch (high schools, vocational training centers, and continuing education centers) established at least one volunteer team, aiming to train 300 disadvantaged children in digital literacy and integration skills. For students residing in the area, the local Youth Union branches organized experiential activities to promote a positive lifestyle. Highlights included "Children's Environmental Protection Day," "Waste Exchange for Gifts Day," cleaning school grounds, caring for flowerbeds and ornamental plants, and disseminating legal knowledge on traffic safety.
Youth Union branches organize many activities to equip students with knowledge about preventing and combating social evils; the harmful effects of drugs and e-cigarettes; and school violence. In addition, students are guided on basic knowledge of fire prevention, firefighting, and rescue; recognizing fire and explosion hazards; skills in using initial firefighting equipment; escape skills; and handling emergency situations.
Nguyen Thanh Loc, a student at Nhon My Secondary School (Nhon My commune), shared: “During the summer, I got free swimming lessons and participated in many activities organized by the Youth Union, such as: competitions to learn about knowledge of maritime sovereignty and islands; planting trees, and cleaning up the environment to make the school grounds green, clean, and beautiful.”
Youth Union and Student Association organizations at universities and colleges in the city have organized many meaningful activities for children. Notable examples include the Can Tho University Youth Union with its "Digital Summer" program, which includes training in AI skills and safe social media use; the Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy Youth Union with its "Enjoying the Summer Sunshine" program, offering experiential activities to help children explore their future fields of study and careers; and the Can Tho College Youth Union with its "Free Computer Science and English Classes" model for students...
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Linh, Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union of Can Tho College, said: “The school's Youth Union, in coordination with several communes and wards, has deployed teams to teach Informatics and English to students from disadvantaged backgrounds, combining this with organizing summer activities that include cultural exchange, learning about culture, and developing life skills.”
Through experiential activities, students not only have a beneficial playground but also acquire essential soft skills to confidently enter life.
