On the morning of February 27, many localities in Ho Chi Minh City simultaneously held ceremonies to hand over and receive troops to perform military service in 2. More than 2024 citizens joined the army this year.
It was noted that at the delivery and receiving point in District 10, the new recruits were present very early to stabilize their formation and prepare for the "enlistment" ceremony. The military transfer point in District 10 has 949 young people joining the army.
In 2024, Ho Chi Minh City is assigned a target of 4.906 young people to enlist, including 3.956 young people participating in military service and 950 people's public security service.
The young men's luggage consists of backpacks and simple items such as clothes, identification papers and a few personal items.
Rookie Pham Ngoc Tan (22 years old, District 6) voluntarily joined the army after completing the college program of the Faculty of Heat and Refrigeration Technology.
“I felt like I was still young and needed more training in both life skills and health, so I decided to sign up for the military. This is also the pride and should be done of every young Vietnamese citizen, very happy to join the army and serve the Fatherland," Ngoc Tan said.
This year, the entire Ho Chi Minh City has 6 female recruits leaving to perform military service. The entire ceremony was held at the military handover and receiving point in District 10.
Female rookie Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy (born in 1999, Go Vap district) was radiant on her enlistment day.
“Since I was little, I dreamed of becoming a soldier, so when I had the opportunity, I voluntarily applied to join the army. I am very excited and looking forward to studying and training in a new environment, starting a new journey," Thu Thuy shared.
Attending the ceremony of handing over and receiving troops in District 10 were comrades Phan Van Mai, Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City Military Service Council; Major General Hoang Dinh Chung, Political Director of Military Region 7; Lieutenant General Nguyen Van Nam, Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Commander of the Ho Chi Minh City Command; along with the leaders of District 10 and 949 enlisted citizens.
At exactly 7:30 a.m., 949 young people were present at the delivery and receiving point of District 10 troops and began moving to the car to return to their assigned units.
Relatives whose children are military recruits were also present outside the gathering area of the assigned military units to watch the ceremony. Parents were constantly waving their hands and looking for their children among the hundreds of young men enlisted in the army.

Rookie Tran Tuyen (20 years old, Binh Thanh district) hugged and kissed his girlfriend before getting in the car.
“We've been together for 2 years, this is the first time we've been apart for such a long time. I just pray that you always stay healthy, study and practice well, and complete all assigned tasks," Phuong Thuy, Tuyen's girlfriend, shared.
The sun was hot from early in the morning, but many parents still stood for many hours at the gate of the troop crossing point waiting to see their children leave.
Many parents were happy and tried to run after the car and wave to their children through the window.
Many parents cried and sat absent-mindedly on the sidewalk as they watched their children walk away in the car with their teammates.
The units receiving troops from Ho Chi Minh City this year include: Naval Brigade 101, Naval Brigade 957, Naval Region 4 Training Center, Naval Region 2 Training Center and Division 377, Gia Dinh Regiment; Particularly, 6 female citizens participating in military service were assigned to the Military School of Military Region 7.
