Great belief
On a weekend morning, Mr. Ho Van Nop, a resident of Binh Chien hamlet, attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the Tuyet Hoa bridge (canal 2 - north of Chu My canal) with great joy. Over 70 years old, Mr. Nop clearly sees the transformation of his hometown through the new, well-maintained roads and sturdy bridges connecting the network of canals crisscrossing this rice-growing region. “About 20 years ago, transportation in Binh Chien hamlet was difficult, and people's lives were mainly tied to rice farming. At that time, I wished the government would invest in roads and sturdy bridges so that people could work and travel more easily,” Mr. Nop shared.
Over time, those dreams gradually materialized in the eyes of old farmer Ho Van Nop. Binh Chien hamlet is now no longer far from straight, paved roads and sturdy concrete bridges, allowing students to easily carry their books to school. “The old Tuyet Hoa wooden bridge used to require regular repairs, but now we have a sturdy concrete bridge, and everyone is happy. I thank the government and philanthropists for providing funding to build the bridge, making life more convenient for the people of Binh Chien hamlet,” Mr. Nop expressed.
Besides the Tuyet Hoa bridge, Binh Chien hamlet has also just completed the upgrading of the road east of Canal 2, with a budget of 1 billion VND, following the principle of "the State and the People working together". The head of the People's Committee of Binh Chien hamlet, Phan Minh Tuan, said: "Thanks to the attention of the Party Committee, the People's Committee of the commune, and philanthropists in investing in the construction of the Tuyet Hoa bridge, we conducted a survey of the people and received strong support from them. When the bridge is completed, it will help improve the appearance of the rural area of Binh Chien hamlet."
Not only Binh Chien hamlet, but also the people of Binh Thang hamlet are very excited as the Canal 7 bridge - south of the National Canal - is nearing completion after more than 90 days of construction. The bridge is 35m long, 5m wide, and has a load capacity of 8 tons, with a total construction cost of over 1.6 billion VND from social contributions. To build the bridge, the people, soldiers, youth union members, and association members contributed more than 1,640 man-days of labor, demonstrating a spirit of collective effort and unity for the renewal of their homeland.
Make a breakthrough
Not only are transportation projects underway in Binh Chien and Binh Thang hamlets, but the Party Committee and People's Committee of Chau Phu commune are also striving to transform the locality into a type IV urban area by 2030. According to Thi Hong Thuy, Secretary of the Chau Phu Commune Party Committee: “In the action program of the Commune Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term, Chau Phu will become a type IV urban area by 2030. Currently, the commune has reviewed and assessed the socio -economic development and urban infrastructure situation to maximize investment resources for the implementation of key projects.”
According to Ms. Thi Hong Thuy, Chau Phu commune strives to complete over 60% of urban standards by the end of 2027 and conduct a mid-term review. In the period 2028-2030, the commune will complete infrastructure, improve the quality of urban services, complete the application for recognition as a type IV urban area by May 2029, and announce the recognition decision in June 2030. “The commune Party Committee requires the commune People's Committee to have a specific plan to realize this goal. With the unity and support of the people and philanthropists, new transportation infrastructure projects have been invested in and built in the area, creating momentum for the locality to continue striving in the coming years,” emphasized Ms. Thi Hong Thuy, Secretary of the Chau Phu Commune Party Committee.
Following the direction of the Chau Phu Commune Party Committee, the Commune People's Committee developed and implemented Plan No. 41/KH-UBND on investment in the development of transportation infrastructure in the area for the period 2026 - 2030, which identifies the rural transportation system as not only serving the people's needs but also having significant importance in socio-economic development, helping to improve the lives of the people.
According to Le Quoc Phong, Chairman of the People's Committee of Chau Phu commune, in 2026, the commune will utilize over 16 billion VND in public investment capital to implement seven projects, including: Upgrading and paving the western section of Canal 7 with asphalt; upgrading and expanding the southern section of the National Highway with concrete; upgrading and renovating Tran Van Thanh road, etc. These projects are of significant importance in synchronizing the bridge and road system throughout the commune, helping to shorten travel time and distance to neighboring areas.
“Besides public investment capital, the Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune also utilize socialized resources to implement projects. This shows the unity between the political system and the people, working together towards the goal of building Chau Phu into a developed urban area in the future,” Mr. Le Quoc Phong affirmed.
