Joined the Party at the age of 18
Pham Huu Huy (born 2004) and Pham Thi Tra My (born 2007) are the children of martyr and People's Armed Forces Hero Pham Huu Huyen. Their father died in 2007 while performing a task to overcome the consequences of storm No. 2 in Chau Hoa commune, former Tuyen Hoa district.
At that time, Huu Huy was only 3 years old and Tra My was only 3 months old. Now, the children of the hero of the past have grown up, matured and all joined the Party ranks when they turned 18.
In mid-June 2025, Pham Thi Tra My, an excellent member of the Youth Union, a student of class 12A1, was admitted into the Party by Party Cell 3, Le Thuy High School Party Committee. To be in the Party, Tra My has constantly strived and worked hard in studying and participating in Youth Union activities; actively undergoing the process of self-cultivation and training to become an outstanding and excellent individual of the school.
“For me, being able to join the Party at the age of 18 and being admitted to the Party at the school where I studied and trained is an extremely great honor. Therefore, I have to make more efforts to be worthy of the trust of the Party, teachers and friends. The future still has many difficulties, so I myself need to be more active, creative and responsible in all activities...”, Tra My shared.
Over the years, Tra My has strived and made tireless efforts in her studies with 3 consecutive years of being an excellent student at Le Thuy High School along with many impressive academic achievements: Third prize at the provincial level in English for grade 11, consolation prize at the provincial level in English for grade 12...
On the day Tra My took the oath to join the Party, she promised to be absolutely loyal and steadfast in the Party's goals and ideals, to continue to strive in studying and training to become an exemplary Party member, a citizen of the nation's new era of development, and to be a worthy student of Le Thuy High School - a school with a tradition of more than 60 years of construction and development...
Tra My and her brother Pham Huu Huy were both admitted to the Party at Le Thuy High School (Huy joined the Party in 2022) when they turned 18. What was more special to Huy was that at that time, after more than 30 years, Le Thuy High School had only one student admitted to the Party.
Pham Huu Huy also made his mark by "possessing" impressive academic achievements with many major awards such as: Third prize at the provincial level in Physics for grade 12, second prize at the provincial level in Physics for grades 11 and 12, title of "3 Good Students" at the provincial level...

Continuing my father's dream
The house built quite spaciously by the wife and children of the martyr, Hero of the People's Armed Forces Pham Huu Huyen, is located in the center of Le Thuy commune. In recent days, taking advantage of the few days off, Huy (currently a 3rd year student, class CT28, Political Officer School) has returned home to visit. Previously, in 2022, Huy passed the school entrance exam with a score of 29.5, ranking first in block A of the school at that time.
In the stories, the memory of his father, although he lost the biggest support in his life, was the motivation for Huy to move forward. Huy shared: When I was young, I did not fully understand the loss of my father's sacrifice.
Later, when I grew up, looking at my father's portrait in military uniform, I always had the will to become a soldier of Uncle Ho, to follow my father's military career and not let down my mother who was trying to raise my two brothers to adulthood.
“What I remember most is that every time my father came home, he took me out to play around the village. Many times he brought me back to the unit to play. Knowing that I couldn’t sleep without electricity, he had to “watch over” me so I could sleep well; he took care of me when I fell down...”, Huy recalled.
In this year's high school graduation exam, with a total converted score of 29.17 points, Pham Thi Tra My plans to apply to the Logistics Academy with the hope of continuing her father's unfinished military career... |
For Huy, after the pain of losing his father comes pride, after pride comes dedication and effort in studying, training, and performing the duties of a soldier of Uncle Ho's army. Every time he encounters difficulties, he thinks that it is nothing compared to his father's sacrifice, so he tries to overcome them. Therefore, during his years at the Political Officer School, he has always achieved the title of "Advanced Soldier".
“My future goal is to graduate with the rank of lieutenant and wish to be assigned to a main unit of the Army to continue learning, training myself, and becoming a political officer to serve the Fatherland and the People...”, Huy said.

Ms. Mai Thi Hien, wife of People's Armed Forces Hero Pham Huu Huyen, shared that their father died early and they lacked affection, but overcoming difficulties, Huu Huy and Tra My always tried their best to repay the kindness that their family and school had given them and turned that into strength and determination in studying and training.
“After my husband died, our family life was turned upside down. Luckily, my family loved me and helped me raise and educate my older children. I am very happy that my children are all obedient, well-behaved, and good at studying....", Ms. Hien said.
