Cultural highlights of the Spring Festival
In the days leading up to Tet (Lunar New Year), pedestrian streets and festival squares become even more vibrant and bustling, transforming urban spaces into lively cultural hubs for the spring festival.
At the Bach Dang pedestrian street and night market (Le Thanh Nghi ward), spring is felt not only through colorful decorations but also through the rhythm of outdoor artistic activities. This year, the central area of the night market has 12 stalls decorated with vibrant spring colors, adding to the city's brilliance. The highlight remains the "Connecting Passions" stage, attractively decorated with a spring theme. The "open stage" model helps shorten the distance between artists and the public; people can stroll along while stopping to enjoy the program and interact directly with the art. This stage will become the main highlight of the entire Bach Dang pedestrian street and night market during the new spring days.
“During this period, the Public Service Center of Le Thanh Nghi Ward will organize many special art programs to celebrate the Party and the Spring Festival with performances such as “Greeting the New Year 2026”, “Spring Colors of the City 2026”, and exchanges between folk song and traditional music clubs in the ward... These art nights promise to be a spiritual highlight of Tet for people inside and outside the ward,” said Mr. Dam Minh Khoi, Director of the Public Service Center of Le Thanh Nghi Ward.
Meanwhile, at Vu Yen Pedestrian Street in Vinhomes Royal Island (Hoa Binh Ward), this year's Spring Festival space has been expanded into a large-scale cultural, artistic, and community experience complex. The highlight is the Vu Yen Spring Festival 2026, structured as a comprehensive cultural festival, connecting various traditional and modern activities.
Not only at major venues, but also in many squares and community centers in Hai Phong, spring festivals and outdoor folk art performances are being held. Traditional opera, folk singing, and folk dance clubs are bringing their programs to open spaces, directly serving the community. Culture is no longer confined to halls but is stepping out onto the streets, blending into the rhythm of life.
The streets are overflowing with the colors of spring.
The most noticeable feature of Hai Phong in the days leading up to Tet is the transformation of its public spaces. No longer simply places for traffic or leisurely strolls, the landscaped areas, squares, flower gardens, and central streets are being reorganized according to the orientation of open cultural spaces.
This year, the city center is decorated in eye-catching ways, with floral displays and arrangements conveying New Year's messages. The decorations aren't spread out but rather clustered into focal points, allowing people to stop, admire, take photos, and interact.
Notably, the city has reopened five flower shops in the central area. These shops not only serve shopping needs but are also designed as "Spring cultural stations," showcasing a diverse range of Tet flowers, combined with artistic decorations and experiential spaces. The sight of these flower shops in the city center creates a feeling that is both familiar and novel, evoking traditional urban life within a modern lifestyle.
Mr. Pham Van Doan, Chairman of the Hong Bang Ward People's Committee, said: "The ward, in coordination with the City's Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, advised the City People's Committee to restore the operation of flower shops in the city center to showcase flower products from traditional craft villages in the city, creating a highlight with the unique character of Hai Phong, so that people have a beautiful place to check in."
In addition, nine central flower gardens have been upgraded and decorated attractively with flowers representing spring such as azaleas, petunias, poinsettias, chrysanthemums, etc. Each location tells a different visual story, contributing to a multi-point cultural map of spring within the city.
