With just over two months until WWDC25, where Apple will announce iOS 19, a new rumor suggests that iOS 19 will discontinue support for three iPhone models: iPhone XR, iPhone XS, and iPhone XS Max. All three devices were launched in September 2018.

According to 9to5Mac , this rumor originated from an anonymous account that frequently shares accurate information about Apple's updates for the X. Previously, this account has accurately leaked details about iOS 18 compatibility in 2024 on several occasions.

Previously, 9to5Mac also reported a rumor that all iPhone models supported by iOS 18 would be updated to iOS 19, including iPhones from the 11 series and above. Both sources have been fairly accurate in predicting Apple's update details in previous years.

Even if the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR are not supported by iOS 19, they will still continue to receive software updates from Apple. For example, on April 1st, Apple released iOS 16.7.11 with security patches for the iPhone 8 and iPhone X.

For iPadOS 19, rumors suggest it will require at least an A12 Bionic chip to function. Therefore, the update will stop supporting the 7th-generation iPad, which was released in September 2019 and uses the A10 Fusion chip.

However, not all devices supported by iOS 19 will receive all the features this update brings. Apple will reserve the best features for higher-end models.

iOS 19 is considered the biggest software update for the iPhone since iOS 7, released over a decade ago in 2013. Apple is expected to improve the interface to ensure design consistency across iOS, macOS, and iPadOS.

This includes redesigning icons, system buttons, controls, and application interface elements. The new operating system will also simplify how users navigate and control their devices.

Additionally, iOS 19 may adopt a frosted glass effect across the entire interface, inspired by Vision Pro's software.

Regarding artificial intelligence, Apple is reportedly not focusing too much on this area at the upcoming WWDC. The company is struggling to implement the AI features it promised to launch this year.

An early, more natural-sounding version of Siri may appear later in iOS 19, but its full interface isn't expected to launch before iOS 20 in 2027.
