In everyday life, when the fire alarm blares through the streets, firefighters immediately rush into danger. Behind those moments of life-or-death struggle, few know that there are those who silently work day and night planning, developing strategies, and preparing every scenario to ensure victory in every battle against the "fire enemy."

Within the Fire Prevention, Firefighting, and Rescue Police Force of Nghe An Province, two exemplary figures – Major Pham Thanh Nam and Major Nguyen The Song – have clearly embodied this image: one dedicated to strategic planning, the other courageous and direct on the front lines.

The architects of "safety shields"

From the very beginning of his career, Major Pham Thanh Nam, Deputy Team Leader of the Fire Prevention Task Force, has been dedicated to advisory work – a field requiring systemic thinking, strategic vision, and meticulous attention to detail in every word. His colleagues affectionately call him "the architect" of fire prevention plans. For him, each document, each plan, is not merely administrative paperwork, but also a "shield" protecting the lives and property of the people from the threat of fire.

During his tenure, he advised on and implemented many important plans. Notably, he concretized the Prime Minister 's Directive No. 01/CT-TTg on strengthening fire prevention and fighting in the new situation; and participated in resolving difficulties for businesses in accordance with Official Dispatch No. 220/CĐ-TTg. Based on his advice, many fire prevention and fighting drills and competitions were organized on a large scale and in a systematic manner, attracting a large number of people and businesses to participate, contributing to raising community awareness of fire prevention and handling skills.

Not only is Major Nam a highly skilled professional, but he is also a passionate and dedicated Youth Union official. As the Secretary of the grassroots Youth Union, he has initiated numerous volunteer activities focused on community service, from blood donation and flood relief to organizing fire prevention and control awareness campaigns for students. In 2023, he was honored with the Ly Tu Trong Award – a prestigious award from the Central Youth Union for outstanding Youth Union officials. In 2024, he was further recognized by the Ministry of Public Security with the title of Emulation Soldier of the entire People's Public Security Force.

To his teammates, he is not only a responsible leader, but also an inspiration, instilling confidence in the youthful energy, innovative spirit, and strategic thinking within the firefighting force.

If Major Nam is the "architect" on the staff front, then Major Nguyen The Song, Team Leader of Firefighting and Rescue Team No. 2, is the one who regularly faces danger directly. For him, each time the fire alarm sounds is a test of the courage and willpower of a firefighter.

Throughout his career, he has repeatedly "rushed into the flames" with his teammates to save people's lives. In December 2021, during a major fire in Ha Huy Tap ward (formerly Vinh city), he directly commanded the operation at the scene, bravely rescuing two trapped victims. In 2023, during a fire at the Nghe An Petroleum Building, he promptly approached and saved a young woman who was panicking and precariously perched on the 27th floor.

These courageous acts not only saved dozens of people from the brink of death but also left a deep impression on the people. He was awarded a Certificate of Commendation by the Minister of Public Security and was repeatedly honored as an outstanding soldier at the grassroots level. In particular, in 2025, Major Nguyen The Song was honored with the title of Outstanding Soldier of the entire People's Public Security Force – a well-deserved reward for a brave and dedicated soldier.

Not only did he participate in actual battles, but he also actively took part in developing scenarios, organizing drills, and professional training exercises, contributing to improving the combat skills and coordination of the entire force. For him, victories came not only from bravery on the battlefield but also from meticulous and scientific preparation behind the scenes.

Regardless of their positions, both Major Pham Thanh Nam and Major Nguyen The Song share common qualities: unwavering political resolve, professional expertise, humanistic actions, and dedication to the people. This dedication is demonstrated without fear of danger, a love for their profession and the people, and a silent sacrifice for the peace and happiness of the community.

Colonel Nguyen Ngoc Thanh, Head of the Fire Prevention, Firefighting and Rescue Police Department, stated that Major Pham Thanh Nam is an officer with strong professional competence, scientific thinking, and strategic vision in advising on fire prevention, firefighting, and rescue. Major Nam always proactively proposes many practical and effective solutions to improve the effectiveness of state management, while also focusing on force building; disseminating information and guiding local authorities, contributing to early and proactive fire prevention.

As for Major Nguyen The Song, in his capacity as a direct commander in many complex and dangerous fire, rescue, and relief operations, in any situation, he always demonstrated courage, calmness, decisiveness, and bravery, readily venturing into dangerous situations to protect the lives and property of the people.

Both comrades are exemplary officers of the Fire Prevention, Firefighting and Rescue Police Force of Nghe An Province.
