Mr. Tran Song Tung, Vice Chairman of the Ninh Binh Provincial People's Committee, said that the conference was not only important in reaffirming Ninh Binh province's commitment and efforts in scientific research, but also an opportunity to introduce some outstanding results of the SUNDASIA archaeological research program.
In particular, new research findings on prehistoric humans, dating back over 12,000 years, along with much scientific evidence about the morphology, genetics, and life of late Pleistocene inhabitants in the Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex, are noteworthy.
The Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex, a World Cultural and Natural Heritage site, possesses outstanding global values, preserving traces of human history and national identity within a unique and distinctive geological and geomorphological landscape.
Following the recommendations of the UNESCO World Heritage Center, after the Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex was inscribed as a World Cultural and Natural Heritage site, Ninh Binh province directed the implementation of many research programs to further enrich the values of the heritage.
In particular, archaeological research and exploration at Thung Binh 1 cave in the Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex has yielded important results, such as the discovery of prehistoric human remains dating back over 12,000 years, along with data on the age, stratigraphy, ancient flora and fauna, and burial practices of prehistoric people.
"The research results have contributed to affirming that Trang An is a 'living museum' of natural evolution and human culture, providing rare scientific evidence that clarifies the process of human habitation and adaptation to environmental changes. At the same time, it adds valuable data on anthropology, genetics, and the presence of globally endangered animal species that once lived here," emphasized Tran Song Tung, Vice Chairman of the Ninh Binh Provincial People's Committee.
These research findings not only offer immense scientific value but also open up new approaches to the conservation and promotion of heritage values.
This also serves as vivid evidence of the effective, dedicated, and enduring cooperation between Ninh Binh province and domestic and international experts and scientists.
In particular, this result is a collaborative research effort by experts from universities in the United Kingdom. This outcome also affirms the role of the four pillars of sustainable development: government guidance and support; business partnership and investment; the intellectual leadership of scientists; and the active and responsible participation of the community.
When these four pillars work together, the value of Heritage will be powerfully disseminated, arousing national pride, love for the homeland, and raising awareness of Heritage preservation in the hearts of every citizen.
This is a crucial foundation for both preserving heritage and developing tourism, creating momentum for the formation and upgrading of cultural industries, and making a practical contribution to the sustainable and green tourism development of the province.
At the conference, experts and scientists offered insightful suggestions to help Ninh Binh continue to effectively implement scientific research, management, conservation, and promotion of the outstanding global value of the Trang An Heritage Site.
