Driven by a love for their profession, a sense of responsibility to the Party and the people, and with their sharp pens, the members of the Ha Tinh Journalists Association have tirelessly strived to achieve many high results at national journalism awards and awards from ministries, departments, and agencies nationwide.

Journalist Pham Thi Anh Hoai (Ha Tinh Newspaper) - winner of the C Prize at the National Journalism Awards: Diligently researched and explored to find a new way of telling stories about cultural topics.

The work "Multiplying the 'soft power' of culture, arousing the aspirations of the people of Ha Tinh" was conceived by the authors after the success of the National Cultural Conference and implemented before the 2022 Provincial Cultural Conference. This is a series of reports exploring the richness and depth of the culture of the people and the land of Hong Mountain - La River, and the achievements under the leadership of the Party throughout various periods.

While the topic isn't new, finding a fresh approach to storytelling requires considerable effort and intellect. Besides diligently researching cultural documents and the Party's policies, we also sought out cultural researchers, professors, doctors, and leading experts both within and outside the province, seeking their input and engaging in conversations to gather material for the article. Fortunately, everyone we approached was enthusiastic and supportive. Thanks to their assistance, we were able to find a direction for the work, overcoming initial uncertainties.

With 5 installments – 5 specific themes – the work delves into analyzing the cultural layers of Ha Tinh province. From there, it highlights the role of the Party in inspiring aspirations, promoting cultural values, overcoming limitations and obstacles, and helping generations of Ha Tinh people create diverse values throughout the country's history.

With its rich data and the participation of numerous researchers in analysis and commentary, the work has contributed to affirming that the Party Committee and people of Ha Tinh have always taken "culture as a guiding light for the nation," considering culture as the goal and driving force of development, developing culture for the perfection of human character and building people to develop culture, thereby multiplying immense and sustainable "soft power."

The work has been honored with numerous prestigious awards: the A Prize in the 2022 Ha Tinh Provincial Journalism Award on Party Building; the A Prize in the 2022 Tran Phu Journalism Award in Ha Tinh Province; and especially the C Prize in the 2022 National Journalism Award. This is a great honor and source of pride, motivating us to continue striving even harder in the arduous journey of journalism.

Party building is a challenging topic for journalists. Journalistic language already presents initial difficulties in harmonizing with the language used in the field of Party building, so developing the topic becomes even more difficult, and using the right writing style can easily lead to confusion.

Therefore, the requirement for the writer is to identify a problem that is both correct and engaging, accurate in principle, precise down to the last word, yet interesting and easily accessible to the reader. These are the demands that each author responds to with a unique answer.

Along with addressing those issues, during the writing process, I always pay attention to practicality, whether the topic I'm developing will be of interest to readers. The appeal of any topic is the same, but for a topic on Party building to attract attention, the writer must first choose what the public needs and find the answer in the Party and State's policies and guidelines. The solution here is to apply the Party's policies and guidelines to the issues that the public cares about; from there, more clicks will lead to the article.

I have consistently adhered to that practical approach and have produced several works that have won two national journalism awards, as well as awards from ministries, departments, and provinces. In 2019, I was awarded the National Journalism Prize for my work "Officials, Civil Servants, and Non-Specialized Workers at the Commune Level," which consisted of four installments. At that time, the whole country was focusing on implementing Central Resolutions 6 and 7 (12th Party Congress), which included the issue of salary policy reform. I noticed inadequacies in policies concerning officials, civil servants, and non-specialized workers at the commune level, leading to conflicting opinions. From there, I applied the viewpoints and policies to practice and produced the work. For example, in 2022, when the whole country was very concerned about combating corruption and negative phenomena under the Party's leadership, I immediately wrote the political commentary "Eliminating the distorted manifestations in the understanding of the fight against corruption and negative phenomena" (2 parts) and was awarded the Journalism Prize for Protecting the Ideological Foundation organized by the People's Army Newspaper in coordination with the Vietnam Journalists Association and the Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank, and the B Prize of the Tran Phu Journalism Award.

Journalist Bui Tien (Law Protection Newspaper) - Honorable Mention at the National Journalism Awards: Determined to bring the case to light despite many difficulties.

For me, journalism is a matter of fate. I'm a self-taught journalist, having transitioned from working in the prosecution sector to the Law Protection Newspaper. My love for the profession led me to pursue writing. I've achieved initial success in my 12 years as a professional journalist, winning numerous national, ministerial, and local journalism awards.

This year, the series of articles "The Magic in Procurement of Teaching and Learning Equipment in Ha Tinh" was awarded the A prize by the Tran Phu Journalism Award Council. This is a great honor and source of happiness for me and my fellow reporters based in Ha Tinh. This series of articles also received the Encouragement Prize at the 2022 National Journalism Awards.

Honestly, when I obtained the information and began verifying and investigating an issue that was causing a nationwide stir in my own hometown, I thought a great deal about it. From accessing the information and documents to meeting with relevant parties to cross-check and confirm the information, it was a difficult process. Or rather, "everywhere I went, I was blocked." At that time, the province had also directed the Provincial Inspectorate to investigate, but it was not yet complete or concluded. But I still decided to proceed because I thought that the matter would eventually be brought to light, given that my province has been very decisive in handling similar cases over the years, bringing to light many cases with signs of corruption and waste in the use of budget funds and bidding for equipment...

When submitting my entry for the award, I selected five main articles according to the regulations, but the series included more articles, meticulously dissecting and reflecting the events step by step, from initial information to the conclusion of the investigation and prosecution. The A prize at the Tran Phu Journalism Awards is well-deserved recognition for this effort.

Journalist Phan Thi Minh Giang (Ha Tinh Radio and Television Station) - recipient of the National "Golden Hammer and Sickle" Encouragement Award: Contributing to Party building work.

The radio report "Searching for a suitable location for the grassroots Party committee office" was produced by the team of reporters Tien Thanh, Minh Giang, Dao Hoa, and Minh Chien (Ha Tinh Radio and Television Station).

We began with the very real stories of those who advise and assist grassroots Party committees in many localities. Due to the lack of allocated positions, they have to accept being part-time civil servants or holding non-specialized positions. Hard work, low income, and limited opportunities for advancement are reasons why many lack the motivation to strive and pursue the profession long-term.

The report also delves into the shortcomings of the staffing arrangement for Party committee offices. Although local Party committees have repeatedly proposed solutions to the Central Committee, this situation has remained unchanged for decades, causing numerous difficulties and disruptions in personnel arrangements, particularly for Party committee office staff. The report also recommends that relevant agencies provide a permanent staff position for this role. A secure position and stable income, comparable to other positions, are necessary for Party committee office staff to feel secure, committed, and perform their duties effectively.

The work won the C prize at the provincial level and the Encouragement Prize at the National Press Awards on Party Building (Golden Hammer and Sickle Award). The authors are extremely honored and proud, not only because the Organizing Committee appreciated and recognized their creative, serious, and responsible work, but also because through this work, we have contributed our voice to building a worthy position for the grassroots Party committee office in particular and contributing to the effective implementation of Party building work in general.

Journalist Linh Thủy (Hà Tĩnh Radio and Television Station) - Silver Medalist at the 15th National Radio Festival : Sharing and empathizing with many lives and destinies.

During a field trip, I happened to hear about the strange fate of a couple. The wife was sold to China as a foreign wife, wandering for nearly 20 years. Her life seemed to be buried in a foreign land, but fate led her to meet a man who risked everything to bring her back to her homeland and take her in as his wife, disregarding her past. The work "Waves of Life" tells the story of this girl's fate and that somewhat unusual encounter.

Creating a documentary that focuses heavily on the psychological aspects of the subjects, the most difficult part is getting them to open up and share. Therefore, I tried to approach the subjects multiple times, building trust and rapport so they felt I genuinely wanted to share their stories in a humane way. Then, through whispered conversations and heartfelt exchanges, I managed to gather information for the article, with the subjects themselves revealing their experiences honestly and naturally. The plot twists, climaxes, tears, sorrows, and struggles to overcome adversity were authentically portrayed, which was key to the success of "Waves of Life"—a work that won a Silver Medal at the 15th National Radio Festival. Besides the efforts of the entire team, from voice actors to sound engineers, I must thank my subjects for truly inspiring me throughout the filming process.

I realized that the more I travel and experience, the more interesting topics I'll find, provided that the journalist shares and empathizes with many different lives and destinies, listening and feeling. The sad story of the couple in the work "Waves of Life" leaves many lingering concerns about the plight of women and the problem of human trafficking, but it also conveys a message about love and resilience for both the author and the reader.
